Our farm system is currently probably middle of the pack at best, and more likely bottom third of NHL. This is due to lack of top picks or trading them away (such as Bokk for Faulk).

I sometimes think it would be wise to treat this year and next year as a 2 year plan.
Do what you can to set some pieces. Let go of some old pieces.

See what you really have in younger players in a mostly normal season (Thomas, Kyrou, Barbie, Kosinski, Sanford, Mikkola, Walman, Perunevich).

Also, open up some cap space. Be in a position next offseason to get a deal on a cap-strapped team. Go after a player or 2 you really want. Trim the fat.

The part that makes it hard is this team needs attendance money. It is already going to be a challenge with Covid fears continued, fans getting used to watching from comfort of home, possible attendance limits, etc. Can’t have a team that is not competitive.

I'll be interested to see what transpires with the blues from the outside.

Tarasenko needs to be figured out ASAP. I do agree patience has to be running out.

I really believe that Army could be in trouble, he went OVERBOARD WITH FAULK AND KRUG (WHAT A WASTE OF TOM STILLMAN AND ENTERPRISES MONEY $13.5M for the next 6 years) and the defense stinks. He would not take draft picks for Tarasenko and now the team will have to bring him back (this room is really going to be a terror) and their losses in the expansion draft and free agency has left this team possibly not even making the playoffs next season (what opening for another cup). I hope they keep their number one pick next year (suppose to be an excellent draft class) because this team could very well be a lottery team!
