Flyers search for a goalie.
Per a source.. the flyers with interest in Holtby and Bernier. |

Carter Hart is an RFA. Elliott is a UFA and not coming back. So it was obvious Philly would look for a veteran on a short deal to tandem with Hart. I figured that out from cap-friendly, but sounds like you have sources saying the same thing.
Pretty sure Bernier signs in Carolina. Would laugh if Philly gets Holtby. Guys like Rittich, Raanta, Dubnyk, Reimer probably make more sense. |

Holtby wants to win and still believes he's a true number 1.
I do see this going down in 2 more years with Holtby being a veteran presence for Hart.
But as of now, Holtby wants the Starter job and will probably take less money to be the defacto number 1. That limits his destinations but I see him as a difference maker.

That doesn't limit Holtby's choices. It totally eliminates them. No true contender would look to him as a #1. Zero. So either accept a role as a back-up, or go try and be a #1 on some bottom-feeder.
Since we're talking about this breaking news about Philly looking for a goalie, maybe we should list all of the other teams in the exact same situation?? Like say Tampa, Toronto, Boston, Colorado, Calgary, Carolina. Those are just a small sample of teams that will be signing a goalie here... |

I would rather over spend on a goalie and get someone good. We just spent all the money on a new defence and it would be a shame if Carter can’t regain his old form. Get some low priced flunky goalie and we have a another season like last.

The only person around that thinks Braden Holtby is a number 1 goalie anymore is Braden Holby. Dude sucks.

Yeah, Holtby would surprise me. The names you mentioned after are much more feasible

If Hart starts the season struggling Holtby would pretty much be a starter. Flyers can’t afford another year of Harts struggles |

Either Bernier or Dubnyk would be a great 1b to go with Carter Hart.
