Great day for Columbus. Couldn't have gone better, imo. by the middle of the decade, Columbus should be an emerging powerhouse.

This doesn't get the Hawks any closer to a cup. Has Bowman been fired yet for the sexual assault cover up?

Not necessarily a bad move. Yes, we feel bad for Cam, as he was here 10 yrs, and entrenched in the community. One of the players who "wanted to be here" (as the FO often iterates).

But Alex - over the past couple of seasons even you've stated how Cam often doesn't put out the effort on the ice - a lot of coasting; not coming back hard on D; being invisible for shifts, games; isn't engaged in play if he's not scoring.
Jake is a more rounded player than Cam, an assist-first player, but he will shoot.

And it's also been suspected the locker room isn't right. The team's not in synce.
It's time for a shift in the team core, and Jarmo is moving toward that now.

Foligno- 2021 1st rnd
Savard - 2021 1st rnd
Jones - 2021 1st rnd (upgraded from #31 to #12)
2022 1st rnd (top-2 protected)
2021 2nd rd (turned into Jake Bean (2013 1st rnd #13)
Adam Boquist - 2018 1st rnd #8
Chicago's on the hook for 8 yrs @ $9.5MM per year
Atkinson - Jake Voracek (2007 1st rnd)

All in - pretty good.

Now this is the playbook to rebuild, do it in a week and probably be better next yr than they were last yr too!

Yeah . . . I didn't include our own 2021 1st rndr #5.

Even though Boquist & Bean are not at Jones' level, our D got younger and faster, especially not having Savard getting his doors blown off @ 2D.

My comment is purely based on what Cam meant to the team and as you said, the community to some extension, seeing Foligno is opting to sign with the Wild I saw Atkinson as the next captain and rightfully so.

I'm not dissing on Voracek , both are completely different players with different skill sets, Cam being this sort of clutch hard to play against small guy, and Voracek having amazing hockey IQ and prereferral game vision , and I still resent Howson for jumping the gun on that Jeff Carter trade.

Now I'm guessing this is purely to complement Laine, my problem is that as it stands , we have a gapping hole at center depth something Jarmo should be hard at work on , and if the price was a 1st in 2022 and Devon Levi to get Reinhart ,then yeah I think Jarmo missed the train on this one. Again, the off season is still young perhaps there is another trade to be made but the answer is surely not in free agency.

A lthough I believe the Hawk's 1st rd pick is top 2 protected. So if the Hawks suck out loud and they win at least 2nd pick in the lottery the Jackets don't get that pick. Not sure if it reverts to 2023 or not though.

I'm a Hawks fan, have had season tix since 08 but have always rooted for and watched the Jackets. Wish Jarmo would have bent over a different GM than StanBow but if Stan was gonna stick his face in a meat grinder I'm glad it's the Jackets who benefit.

Huge huge Sillinger fan. Watched 5-6 of his games last yr. Torts would love this guy. Gritty with offense to add, plus NHL shot already.

Yea the Jackets need centers but they have some capital to acquire one but it's never easy. No doubt more skilled with Voracek and Laine should benefit from playing on a line with him minus Torts running the systems.

I'm excited for the Jackets.

I'm excited for what Jarmo did last weekend too.

Yes - if you win the 2022 lottery, the pick moves to 2023. And don't bring up Torts !!
He was right for this team at the time, but his shelf-life expired prior to the '20/21 season, and he was toxic to it last season.
