Good morning Theo, very informative blog, thank you. I’m hoping that a forward or defenseman drops from your top ten.

I'll be ok with whoever is picked at 11 (12). I think the Hawks may pick a sleeper, since they seem to spend more on scouting. The COVID year may actually help them, especially with their 2 picks in rounds 2 and 4.

One thing about Bowman is he’s shown he’s not adverse to going off the grid and drafting someone who's pegged to go later. So I won’t be surprised if he selects someone none of us are predicting.

Let's also remember that a lot of young men's hard work is going to pay off this weekend with a selection and that the draft is more about them than us...

....and now, back to speculation!

Theo i wanted to pick Mctavish but i think he will be gone before 12 so i went with lucias. Imo Mctavish is exactly what the need big power forward who can score and play with an edge to his game. Hoping 2nd round Boucher and dach two big physical wingers again what the hawks are lacking. As for jones strome and boqvist kurashev 2022 lowest 3rd round pick for jones 20th overall pick and 30 th overall pick Hate to give up boqvist and is only 20 but i think he will be injury proned is whole career. Now this trade only goes through if jones signs an extension. Personally let Dallas have him but imo bowman has his sites set on Jones. Is this a plausible trade offer i think so could benefit both teams. Hawks get top 4 d man and picks Columbus gets two centers and replacement for Jones. Does it happen yes maybe these are not the pieces.

Thumbs up on Raty. Make a deal for Seth Jones that involves trading down 1st round picks and he could be there.

A very in depth and comprehensive draft blog Theo. Thank you.

At NHL draft time I always hope there are some early, "out of left field" picks to get everyone scrambling.

With Stevie Y. and Detroit sitting at #6, I could see the Wings picking one of the 2 goalies ala' Moritz Seider in 2019.

I know they just picked up the kid from the Canes but Yzerman is patient and will play the long game. He did draft Vasilevskly when he GM'd Tampa.

One or both of those two goalies should be available at pick 10 or 11, I wonder if SY drops down and acquires another asset.

It is lacking details. I don't believe that source.

McTavish was my pick for anyone who cares.

To Chicago
Jones
#25 overall or 2022 2nd

To CBJ
#11 overall
Strome
Nylander
Mitchell
Slavin

Note: Assuming Raty will be there at #25, otherwise the deal is off

The Hawks are probably going to have to include Reichel instead of the Strome/Nylander dynamic trash duo to make that deal work for Columbus. But who knows, maybe there is another GM delusional about Alex Nylander.

Hawks have drafted a fair amount from the USDP , so my money is on Chaz Lucius, unless one of the consensus top 8-9 drop.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Jones trade goes down today. No use predicting who the Hawks draft at 11 because that pick will be included in the Jones package.

Columbus said wants players not picks of course that could change. Strome Nylander rights to big z.+ one of our 3rd round picks from next year. No way i m giving up the 11 overall pick for declining d man. Only way i include it is if hawks are getting the 25th and 30th pick in return.

I'm essence three first round picks for S Jones..
......it's how you look at personnel involved.....so my perspective I see one of Mitchell or Beaudin or both but then no Reichel. I guess our #11 too but then again with all those picks what should Columbus do. I would package two first round '21 picks for a top ten. If I was the Columbus GM I would draft a power forward and a dman within top ten/or their own plus Chicago.

If no Klingberg but Chicago deal instead, I take Mitchell and Reichel plus Chicago's first. I might be inclined to accept Robertson for Kurachev but I do.not know enough about the speedy large bottom line Columbus player. And since Kurashev is a center/LW and Robertson as far as I know is strictly a wing, perhaps I would not wind up including those two players. There has been Kurashev's name mentioned so I just quickly came up with that add onto a trade.

At this point I'm feeling it's going to be (if it occurs, still think he gets traded to Dallas or Colorado):

Hawks get:
Jones
Columbus 1st- #25 or #32
Columbus 4th

Blue Jackets get:
Kubalik
Mitchell
Hawks 1st- #12 (11)
Big Z

As to Z, Jackets need defensemen with Jones moving, Savard traded and Del Zotto as an UFA and like we thought, large Dmen with snarl have so much potential.

S Jones is a young dynamic player whom.is only declining until he is in a better position to excel

I would say he might excel in Dsllas, but up and down moments on a shaky young Chicago defense

I do not want Kaiser included
I would go with the trade I listed above
This is helpful if you try to look at it from a Columbus point - of - view

Columbus is just plain stupid if they take Strome and Zadorov is ok although I would want to have Mitchell + Reichel and not Beaudin in place of Reichel. Cross off Zadorov if Chicago is trying to peddle Zadorov + Beaudin and omit Reichel

LATE ADD Actually Pops trade proposal makes more sense to occur. I understand the reasoning why Columbus would accept Zadorov too.

In terms of the captain, general manager Stan Bowman's statement about him supports the notion that Toews' health is still touch and go due to his Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome. The key term is chronic which means he will grapple with this his whole life.

As a result of the chronicity of his ailment and the fact that he sat out the entire past season, Toews isn't going to be shy to tell management and coaches when he's not fit to play and stay away from the team until he's ready to return to play hockey.

If the league goes with the compacted schedule to include participation in the 2022 Olympics, the frequency of games is comparable to last year's shortened season. Last year the Hawks played their 56 games in 118 days. This season the schedule leading up to the All star/Olympic/ break is 53 games in 113 days, with, by my count, 10 back-to-backs. I wish Toews the best of health, but I can see him taking many maintenance days throughout the season.

I don’t get the Jones possible trade…..

“If” he currently carried an $8 million 6 year deal, would the hawks offer all those supposed picks and “prospects”???

It’d be considered a cap dump….

Hard pass…..

Exhale…..
