Dallas just made life more difficult for a Division foe: Colorado. They can afford to give Miro the money because Pavs and radulovs contracts are up after the season and they will have to take pay cuts to stay, Part of that money will fund Robertson when he hits the market after next season.

Colorado not only has Makar and Landeskog now to deal with, they have Byram and MacKinnon in 2 seasons with a still flat cap. Plus they have two golaies to sign this year who will sop up a lot of cap space that is remaining...

Kuemper will probably cost you Robin Lehner money...5x5 to 5x5.5million. Hyman is gone, and you have Morgan Reily and Sandin to sign after next year with a still flat cap. You are trading one oft injured goalie for another with a marginal upgrade in performance but losing a skilled heart and soul winger in the process. You'll be back playing in a tougher division again next year so the 1st Round may still be as far as you go....

Leafs would get Kuemper for a year to challenge Campbell who is also UFA at the end of next season. May the best tender win the next Leafs starter $$$.

Having said that, I'd much rather the Leafs go with a guy like Ullmark than Kuemper. Driedger would be another option but it sounds like he may sign with Seattle.

Hyman isn't a "heart and soul" guy. He's simply a gritty pest who produced as a result of playing with two superstar players and is due to get an obscene raise. Hard pass.
