First of all forget retaining any salary..

Second of all no way should they trade them…

Third, he’s light years better than Muzzin.

I had hoped the Wings would aquire him, but he is too expensive for a rebuilding team. Your best bet is to extend him, especially after you get Eichel and a FA winger for your 1st line.

Even if the Ducks go rebuild mode, extending Lindholm should be a priority. You still want a good core of players on your roster as the young guys start coming in or you will end up like Buffalo or New Jersey... perpetually rebuilding. Look how Minnesota did this year with a great top 4 and a stripped down forward group.

If making a move for protection purposes, I'd trade Manson as you will still get good value and you won't need to retain because he is on a cheaper contract.

Even in a rebuild, you don't gut your entire roster of veterans. Lindholm is a keeper. Period

As of right now the ducks are still just standing pat. All the talk is about rebuilding but there appears to be no action or guidance from BM or ownership.
If the ducks are going to rebuild they should do it right. Make a few important trades for the future such as Lindholm, Manson, Gibson, Henrique, Silverberg….1 likely gone via expansion draft. Fill the voids with free agent signings.
Or they should look at making couple of key free agent signings and be competitive for the first half of the season and see where they are. Make the playoffs as a bottom team just gets their young guys more experience. Not in contention sell off at that time.
Would just be nice to have some confirmation from management as to the plan.

Not in a rebuild…trade the more experienced valued players to get youth and more draft picks. Sign a UFA forward and a UFA defence man and hope to swap them at the deadline for more picks.
