Funny you brought up Morin….I was thinking of his path to this point as I was reading about Oleksiak….I hope the Flyers do bring him back in a depth role.

Jamie Oleksiak would be a typical flyers signing.

As things currently stand with the D corps, I hope the Flyers aren't even considering a depth signing right now. We have enough "depth guys", especially on the left side. Fletch need to be focused on finding difference makers on the back end. That's not a knock on Morin. I have nothing against him, and feel bad for the hand he's been dealt to this point. But a new contract for him shouldn't even be a thought right now IMO.
Now, if we find a sucker GM to take Ghost & his contract, or if we lose Hagg or Braun (ED) and those spots aren't filled with other FA signings, then I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Sam back at the league minimum.

What happens if Fletcher strikes out in bringing a major needle mover to the Flyers? Will he sign some depth guys just to sign some guys due to the action bias mandate from upper management?

This would be the worst case scenario.

do you think a major needle mover free agent will sign here? The flyers best bet for that type of player is via trade imo.

Even if a d goes in the exp draft I can’t see us signing more than 1 ufa d man.

Prov
Sanhiem
Myers
Braun. Could be selected
Haag could be selected
Ghost could be selected
York? I think he can make the team.

Still barring trades it’s the right side. Yea sanhiem can switch but I think he’s better on the left. Unless ghost is selected and we use sanhiem in a trade I’d be surprised if we signed someone who plays left only.

Anyone think this is a viable trade...
Jake V and our 2nd for Tarasenko...We may have to have a roster player with Jake like Myers, but it cuts out one year of contract, IMO is an upgrade, and is 1M per year less on the cap hit...could be a win-win for both teams. Thought about NoPa in this deal, but there may be a move to send him to Nashville.

Oleksiak only makes sense if Hagg gets taken in expansion. Otherwise stick w/ the Swede.

Flyers have plenty of options and assets to make deals, they just need the right deal.

A team like the Preds, they will want to move Ekholm, they are rumored to really like Patrick. Myers yes had a bad year but the preds seem to be rebuilding. Would they take Patrick and Myers and a first? I don’t think Ekholm is the solution, it is just an example of a team like the preds in transition and the flyers with needs

Make a good deal CF, there out there

They are going to trade guys for sure. Im not convinced Seattle will take Hagg or Braun. To me its Ghost or JVR

Even then we are looking to add a Top pair D and Fletcher said that this D was a bad mix of players so you would assume either Sanheim or Myers will be dealt as well so another replacement will be needed. Braun likely pairs up with York or Zamula on 3rd pair, Hagg as 7th

Tarasenko is probably the biggest boom/bust addition of the summer. You either get a 30-40 goal scorer out of it, or a dozen games before his shoulder falls off again. Probably not much in between.

Totally agree...that is why I thin kthe 2nd rounder, plus the benefits you get by saving a year on Jakes contract (plus the 1M a year) would be worth the risk. A more boom potential than the RJ for Hartnell trade a few years back (but for similar reasons).

There are many factors. One, Tarasenko has to have the Flyers as one of his teams since he has a NTC. Two, he is coming off three shoulder surgeries and has only played 34 games over the past two season because of the injury.

It gives me pause that two surgeries didn't fix the problem and that he required a third non team doc to get it (possibly) fixed....Hence his issue with the St. Louis franchise.

Those are two major issues that need to be worked out. Either way Im not sending anything "plus" in the deal. The Flyers would be taking all the risk IMO.

Rangers, Isles, and Edmonton are the three teams being mentioned most often.

I would think about doing it straight up. One for one. Otherwise pass. Jake and Myers for Tarasenko? Hell no.

Most likely Nashville is not trading Ekholm. Nor would I make the deal you suggested. it's an overpayment.

Agree, he wants out and he has the injury issue, you are sending JVR who has been very good. Plus Vlad has a higher cap.

I do think if you get your right D and Vlad plays well, you have a better team

My only thought on the extra was the year we are buying off of Jake's contract. But I think you have to get past the health issues first before you really even kick the can on a deal like that.

How is the extra year worth Myers? What about the health risks the Flyers are taking on? What is that worth?
