You said "I know Arvidsson hasn’t been as productive of late but I think there are a few obvious explanations for that. For one, John Hynes-coached teams generally don’t score a ton of goals. They play a defense-first style and try to be selective in the offensive zone, waiting for that one big chance and hoping to be opportunistic. That doesn’t really lead to a bunch of high scorers on the team"

Isn't that the Kings style too? The Kings aren't known for goal scoring and don't have the elite speed/talent that produces scoring. Yes Kopitar is good but he is more known for his Selke type play. I honestly don't see Arvidsson thriving in the current Kings system either. Until they get some speed and skill upfront, I don't see him turning his game around.

1) Kopitar is a fantastic offensive player. He was stifled during the Sutter years and afterwards by a lack of help on his wings, but the skill has always been there. Still is.
2) The Kings system last year was probably necessitated by the personnel available. I sincerely doubt the Kings got Arvidsson for his defensive acumen and plan on sticking him on the third line. They got him, instead, to play top 6 5v5 minutes/PP and he will be let loose.

I agree with Todd..it's a good deal for the Kings to get a proven goal scorer and who plays well 5 on 5. Third Round picks only make the NHL at around a 15% rate so it's not a bad risk reward for Rob Blake.

I’m thinking the Preds will be going big after a centre with this trade and probably my will use this first to free cap space with Seattle . The only centre I can think of that has enough impact for that is Reinhart or Eichel and if they trade a first on this draft it might be tough to grab either one . Should be interesting

Rather than signal an 'end to the rebuild', the Arvidsson deal demonstrates that management anticipates the rebuild still has a few years remaining. Despite showing recent signs of both statistical and skill regression, at 28 years old it is arguable that Arvidsson might still produce 20+ goals next season. For the Kings, he is a relatively cheap, low risk option to solidly the second line for the next couple of seasons.

What I think that people really mean when they say that the trade signals an "end to the rebuild" is that it signals the end of the teardown. The team is done trading players and hording picks and prospects and is now willing to acquire good players in exchange for those picks and prospects. Basically, the team hit the bottom and is now trying to climb back up. That will take a while, so the rebuild still has years to go, as you noted, but it feels like a clear change of direction from just a couple of months ago, when Carter was traded.

Besides injury. You can assume his down years to also both the system in place. And the 2 top centers completely crapping the bed. Hence Arvidsson asking for a trade and saying he aint happy.

I highly doubt that Arvidsson asked for a trade or even said that he wasn't happy. He's a happy-go-lucky, quiet guy who puts his head down and doesn't complain. He was a fan favorite and one of the most well-liked guys in the locker room. After maybe Rinne, he's the last guy that I would've expected to want out of Nashville and I suspect that he's devastated right now. At least he has several months to adjust.

It was reported that he asked for a trade. But also. Just imagine playing there and MD has 13 points i think it was, and makes 8 mil. Johanson wasnt much better.

Interesting. Where was that reported, if I may ask? I haven't read or heard that anywhere and find it pretty hard to believe, especially since Forsberg, one of his best friends, tweeted a big thumbs down emoji when he heard the trade news. I've heard rumors that other teammates aren't happy with the trade, either, which doesn't make sense if it was initiated by Arvidsson. Maybe it was more his agent's doing. I can maybe see him convincing Arvidsson that a trade was in his best interest and then going to Poile on his behalf.

Honestly. I cant remember. But I had watched like 10 different videos online about it. Im not sure but maybe even Poile stated it. Im wondering if Forsberg's thumb down is also more about the thought, that maybe Nashville is gonna sell alot of pieces and start a rebuild.

You were right. It came from Poile. I just found an article on it:

https://www.tennessean.co...e-david-poile/5359369001/

I'm as surprised as that writer is, though maybe I shouldn't be, since Hynes' system was doing him no favors. I guess that he felt the same, which could be good for LA, since it suggests that he thinks that he can be a lot better and isn't happy with being a 10-15-goal scorer.

Yeah. I knew I saw it. I just know I watched a bunch of videos while at work. So it was hard to recall where it came from. So for me. I think Forsberg thumbs down tweet is 2 fold. Its sad to lose a teammate and friend. But also. Might show a either full rebuild. Or on the fly rebuild. I saw a report that Ekholm is probably gone this off season to.

I don't think that Ekholm is going anywhere. Perhaps the report mixed him up with Ellis. Ellis is the one expected to be traded and the odd man out because the Preds have a bunch of other smallish defensemen coming up. That's also a reason why they need Ekholm, for his size. I'd like to see Ellis in LA as an upgrade over Walker.

LA aint making a RHD move. But Ekholm is easier to trade than quite a few more years of ellis at 6mil plus. Ekholm was already in talks before trade deadline. One year left. Hes def a player Nashville is looking at to move before they lose for nothing. Esp if they got into any form of a rebuild. That is being talked about.

I don't think that they're rebuilding, but that's a fair point about Ekholm being easier to move. It'll probably depend on whether they can sign him to an extension this Summer. If they can, they'll probably take what they can get for Ellis. If they can't, they may be forced to keep Ellis and get something for Ekholm, as you said.

As for LA, LD is their most pressing need, but they're not particularly strong on RD, either. If they can upgrade that side, it's worth looking into, IMO.

Not strong. But fairly consistent at the NHL. While having faber, durzi and Grans or w/e his name is. LD is weaker in both NHL and AHL. Bjornfoot and Anderson are both in the NHL now. They need another bigger guy there. Walker and Roy are solid guys who arent gonna cost you massive mistakes normally behind Doughty.

I think they want that Ellis type but on the LHD. Or more like a Sergachev or a Werenski. Not that we can get them. But there age fit so well into the future.
