It wouldn't surprise me if he resigns with Carolina after the expansion draft, alot of teams are asking their ufa's to do this so they don't have to protect them.

there's a disconnect between what Hamilton's camp thinks he can get on the open market and what the Hurricanes think he'll get, so they're allowing them to go see what they can find.
This is what they're doing with assistant coach Dean Chynoweth, and also what they did when Don Waddell's contract was coming up and they allowed him to interview with the Minnesota Wild.
It's unusual, but they've been doing a fair bit of this sort of thing since Tom Dundon bought the team. |
