If you can get both at reasonable contracts I’d do it. As far as Frederic not living up to expectations your way off. He did everything that was asked of him . Was a physical, agitating tough forward who took no dumb penalties and fit in well wherever they played him. Studnicka was a major disappointment. Think the bruins would have been better off playing a third line of Ritchie- Kuraly- Coyle and having Freddy play with Lazar and Wagner. Third line worked in the regular season and would have been a better option then Debrusk and KK. Worst thing that happened was Debrusk scoring early vs the Caps. Brought them right back to believing he is better than he really is . Get something for him while you can.

Agree with offloading DeBrusk while you can.
Sign Rask, Krejci and Hall hopefully with team-friendly contracts and do whatever it takes to get a #2 left handed dman that can eat long mins.

Frederic was fine in his role, I’m not saying that. I’m saying he’s not ready to center a second or maybe even third line. That will hopefully come down the road.

I thought Frederic was a winger.

But agree that he's not ready for 2nd or 3rd line yet. 4th line... sure.

I don't know there is evidence either way...he really didn't play any center this year. He was pretty much a winger all season. Even Stud really didn't get much center time.

Frederic would have helped this playoff year and will develop into a solid 3rd line center Studnicka was projected to be a point producer and I think his development is disappointing. Reason B’s are still behind in development of scoring 2nd line players is clearly because of the 2015 draft . 3 top 15 picks produced little . Debrusk is no 2nd line scoring winger and really didn’t deserve to have a spot in the playoffs. So 6 years later you don’t have one player good enough to make an impact in 2021 playoffs
from 3 high picks. That’s a problem.

Also agree that bruins need a big left handed d man. Know some people love the analytics but MG is not a top pair d man.
He can’t physically handle the big boys . He also is no Krug on the pp. Don’t understand why Sweeney thought Krug was to small to be a top pair guy but MG is ok there. Krug so much tougher .

I don’t blame DeBrusk from getting selected, scouting needs to be blamed for shooting blanks in the first round.

you CAN blame him for his effort or lack of. He scored 29 goals, you dont do that by accident.

He coasted last year.
Pretty much mailed it in this year after getting a new contract.

Elite Prospects has him as a C/LW
Bruins have him listed as a center, and he was drafted as such.
But.... Bruins played him mostly at wing.

So who really knows?

My point being Debrusk is not what Sweeney envisioned. He is past the development stage. Frederic is in the development stage and was not disappointing at all. Just let him play. If you look at Sweeney's picks 2 forwards and a D- man 13 thru 15 and then look at picks 16 thru 18 2 forwards and a D-MAN you see how much it hurt. Barzal,Conner and Chabot as opposed to Debrusk, Senyshen and Zboril . If you just pick one you have a player with impact.

That being said you can't go back. Going forward the Bruins have the making of a good 2nd line providing the money is right. But you have to make decisions with the D and bottom 6. Coyle I believe will be better and is big and talented. Even at his worst he still was a puck possession player. Kuraly , Lazar, Ritchie have size and grit and Frederic should be a plus. They have other forwards that can play in that bottom 6 like Wagner, Studnicka, etc. Don't know if they sign Kase. But I see the Defense an area that needs some help. The right side would be set if Carlo and Miller weren't always hurt and Clifton is pretty good but the top pair left D has to be improved. Lauzon and Reilly can be a 4-5 but you need a big solid guy to play with Charlie. Playoffs prove again goaltending and tough defense is hard to beat. Hopefully Swayman is the real deal, if not I guess you could circle back to Rask.

The Islander series couldn't be more glaring. Barzal was the most dangerous player on the ice next to Marchand. Then we look over to Debrusk, and Zboril, Seny... gulp...
Don tried to outsmart the draft and all the hockey panelists were screaming Barzal.

Debrusk is frustrating big time. He can flat out wheel, and look great at times. His hockey IQ just isn't there. Unfortunately he probably needs to be traded for probably not a whole lot in return because they could lose him for free to Seattle.
