Karine Hains: Changing the Narrative The semi-final between the Canadiens and the Golden Knights hasn’t even started yet, and I’m already sick of hearing the narrative some medias have chosen to push.

I'm a proud Canadian, though not of French descent, and I love our country for our bilingualism and the fact that we have a place like Quebec. That being said, the franchise is handicapped by the obsession of some fans and pundits in regards to how "French" they are. The team needs to compete, the league is no longer predominately of one cultural background and a team can't be built with consideration constantly being given to political leanings. J'adore les Canadiens, mais.... Some time it's too much.

As a French speaking Habs fan. The whole French narrative is really embarrassing. There are much more English speaking Habs fans world wide than French.

The league today is a lot bigger then the 50s, 60s, 70s, more to chose from.

Robinson
Gainey
Dryden
Ferguson
F. Mohovlich
P. Mohovlich

These players were true and true Montreal Canadians, key work Canadians not just French Canadians.

I know, and I agree but for the nationalists it’s all about the French-Canadians and too often they forget the focus should be on winning

Oooops missed the question sorry. I like what Trotz has done with the Isles but I dont think they have it in themselves to overcome Tampa unfortunately...i’d say TB in 6. Missing Anders Lee really hurts their attack. You?

They're picking the wrong arena for battle; they have to fight at the draft.

Draft eligibility should expand for teams drafting in their own region. So the NHL would give each team a region, and in the first round of the draft, they could draft players who are D - 1 year instead of D year. That way if a superstar is rising the ranks, your team has dibs on him (you'd still have to use high priced draft picks; that's the trade off).

We're all going to talk about Connor Bedard two years from now - by all rights, Vancouver should be able to draft him next year if the player agrees to it. It's both a money move and a common sense move.

It was, to me, a crime when Montreal has to wait until Pittsburgh rolls into town before they can watch Mario Lemieux play. Enough is enough... there's now hockey development everywhere, it's time for local superstars to play for their cities again.

I've never understood why they can't just plug their ears to the nonsense and put together the best team available, but it is what it is I guess.

Also Petry still not practicing supposedly is concerning imo, I hope his season isn't done.

Ducharme said he would skate today and maybe join the team at practice in the next few days, no panic
