Carol Schram: Canucks' Abbotsford affiliate lands in AHL's Pacific Division next season The Vancouver Canucks' AHL affiliate doesn't have a name yet. But the club will play a 68-game schedule in the AHL's nine-team Pacific Division in the 2021-22 season.

Thanks Carol,

Holtby will certainly be sticking around as Jim will want to make sure he has his solid tandem in place for a bounce back season. It might cost a pick or a prospect to make sure Seattle doesn’t claim him but the prospect pool is so deep it won’t really matter.

How about the Abbotsford "Arrows"? I know nothing about Abbotsford.

I saw somewhere that you could put in the blog that as long as Van tenders Jasek a QO that they retain his rights until 27. He would need to pass through waivers this year to play in Abbotsford. Maybe Van wasn't willing to take the chance of him being claimed. Having him play in a league that's near equal to the AHL and getting another year of development. Since he did only sign for 1 season there.

It’s really a brilliant bit of business. Player makes more $, gets an equal opportunity to play and produce, team opens up an additional spot in Abbotsford with no risk of losing the player.

Ty Carol

The Abby Aces

The farm trades off being close to the parent team to more time flying. Easier on call ups & more close means better tracking & guidance for prospects using whatever the Canucks can also add eg going to Canuck home games to view & get extra training.

I was told that Cordell is a Leafs fan, if so, he may need a couple of months to mentally recover

As I’ve mentioned to Nighty 4 consecutive years, we are not trading down. Benning will have a prospect he has ranked at 5 available at 9 and make the pick.
