Also took Leon Stickle blowing an offsides call(offsides by over a foot no less) for the Isles to beat the Flyers in 1980, but I'm sure Isles fans have long forgotten about that little white lie.
- Phillywhiteout

LOL .. still pushing that offsides nonsense?

What happed to the Flyers the next 4 years? Were they offsides every year?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Fi5b_M4L84 funniest part of that play was it was in the first period and the offsides happened when he was passing it back to Goring trailing the play. Zero shot the Isles lose that game anyway.. zero.

My god dude is bringing up stuff from the 80s. I’m only half serious when I bring up Malkin not getting suspended in the 2009 finals.

I agree. I'm sure Bettman was hoping to showcase Jakub Voracek & Brian Elliot to the rest of the world

Thanks for correcting me!! I thought it was only a foot or so offsides. It was actually more like FOUR FEET offsides!! Zero shot the Isles lose that game? How could you possibly be realistic with that comment. Without that goal the Flyers win in regulation and then go back to Philly and WIN game 7!! To a man the Isles admitted if they had to go back to Philly for a game 7 their goose was cooked!

That would be an amazing final.

Two rich and storied franchises. Both with a history of excellence. Two big markets. What's not to like.

- MisterBrown
No offense, but the Habs don't draw squat in this country and they are playing a boring style to get through these games. That Habs/Jets series was a snoozer compared to the others. The Isles really aren't looked at as a true NYC team and aren't really considered a big market. Although if that series came to fruition I would have to root for the Isles cause I at least admire their style of play as much as it pains me.

Vegas has no chance at all vs Montreal. I am close to picking a sweep. If the Islanders beat Tampa which is very tough the Islanders will have home Ice in the cup finals.

I am not sure if you are being facetious here or trying the reverse jinx..etc. If you truly believe that I am pretty shocked...

If by some miracle we somehow beat Tampa I am not sure who I would rather play. To me Vegas is a much better team, but imagine hopping on a Jet Blue to Vegas to watch the Isles in the cup final!! That is friggin insane....

At second glance, wouldn't they really be being defeated by the ocean in that picture?

Could anyone imagine a Habs/Isles Final? Gary Bettman would probably resign with the terrible TV ratings that would bring down.
- Phillywhiteout

I would try and imagine a scenario where the Flyers made it to the finals but your team sucks so bad it’s unimaginable.

No, I’m actually off. This may sound stupid but I have a men’s league soccer game in Glen Cove at 4:30 on Sunday. I missed the last 2 games due to family obligations and this is our last game until September so I don’t want to miss it. This is a good team we’re playing too. Wife’s playing in her league at 4 also so I’m sure she won’t be happy either.

I guess I’m gonna have to get the Fubo going as much as I can. But, if the game was at night I would have been able to watch it.

Not stupid soccer is a great sport. I’m actually a big Spurs fan.

I really think if he never made fun of the Kuznetsov celly he would still be on the team. Is that absurd of me?

Ah, thank you. Forgot that it was Toews.

I still doubt that was the reason he was traded. More likely because he was not very good in last year's playoffs.

Probably an easier cap to dump without taking any back.

Yeah, I think Toews was a cap casualty. He was due a significant raise and the Isles didn't have much wiggle room. He was pretty good during the regular season, but had a weak playoffs.
