I like Campbell and he was great during the season and good and bad at times playoffs. In a weird way reminded me of Freddie a bit when I was watching. Looks real good then bad same period. Inconsistent during the playoffs. Can’t remember but I believe I read that his SV% vs Habs was basically the same as Freddie in the series(s) vs Bruins/CBJ last couple years…not 100% though.

I think with him the issue is that he’s over emotional. I just don’t think you can be like that in net. Too hard on himself.

I know some tenders develop later but I just think if he was going to emerge as a legit NHL goalie - it would’ve happened already and I just don’t feel like the small sample this short season combined with playoffs was enough. Inconsistent play makes a good backup but shaky starter in the nhl. Leafs should be looking to get a legit #1 if possible (big if possible obviously) and if not a guy that can split with Campbell.

sure, you expect him to score more but he was getting chances and just couldn't beat Price or the post..

Game 5, the slow start and the Galchenyuk giveaway did them in.
Game 6, the slow start and the Dermott giveaway did them in.
Game 7, the slow start and the Marner giveaway did them in.

As a team, they didn't step up at big moments.. I don't think it was a lack of leadership either, heck Thornton, Spezza, Foligno, Bogosian, Muzzin are all guys we'd call 'leaders' and even Tavares attending the games.. I think it was bad, or boneheaded plays at bad times.

Meh, if the puck goes in, instead of off the cross bar/post, Leafs win the series.. Come on, you can't say Matthews was useless, he was strong defensively every game and had his fair share of scoring chances.

Hamilton would be nice but you'd have to think some desperate team would outbid the Leafs.

UFA's are hard to gauge, the only way you get them at a decent number is if your team is at the top of their list.

The Leafs have more than 2 good players, so it obviously goes to McDavid. Edmonton wouldn't even have a franchise anymore if McDavid (and Dri) wasn't there.
