Speaking of the Islanders winning. Here is an observation…

Sorokin played Game 1 against Boston and they lost 5-2.

Varlamov played the next 5 games. He won 4 of them. He was named one of the three stars in 3 of those games. His GAA was 2.2 and his SV% was almost 94.

I was kind of wondering if Varlamov read the post here about Sorkin being better than him and maybe it motivated him to elevate his play. It’s possible. We know Burke and Hexy are regular readers here so maybe Varlamov has been lurking while he’s isolated in a hotel room. Hi Semyon. Great series!

Are you saying winning in the Stanley Cup playoffs isn't enough motivation for Varlamov, but reading what a bunch of lunatics on Hockeybuzz think about Sorokin is what gets him going? OK.....

Dude. It’s called sarcasm. If you missed it Ek has been calling Sorokin the best goalie in the world right now…

Maybe he's one of those guys that doesn't care much about winning the Cup. But when Ek called Sorkin the best goalie in the world, Varlamov thought...he's not even the best goalie on this team. Watch me win 4 of the next 5. It's possible. Burke and Hexy sometimes come here. Hi Semyon. Hi kids.

I can't wait for Taylor Hall to sign a long-term deal somewhere so we don't have to continually hear rumours about going home to Calgary. Let's recap:

-Hall was born in Calgary and then moved to Ontario when he was 10-12 years old
-his parents still live in Ontario
-his long-time girlfriend lives in Ontario
-her family lives in Ontario
-he recently purchased a massive summer home on a lake in Ontario
-he has a charity based in Ontario

So what exactly is drawing him to Calgary? Pretty sure he looks to sign with an Eastern team...

Taylor Hall had Detroit Red Wing PJs

Taylor Hall: I grew up in Calgary, Alberta, and I moved to Kingston when I was thirteen and lived there ever since. Whenever I go back to Kingston it means a lot to me because that's where all my friends are.

Mel: Okay, so everyone has role models growing up; who was your favourite team or even player?

Taylor Hall: Well, growing up it was the flames; I always loved watching them play. Right now it's probably Sydney Crosby, because he's one of the best players in the NHL and he's a good role model.

Mel: Do you still follow Calgary games?

Taylor Hall: Not really, it's pretty hard. I have a very busy schedule, I just watch hockey whenever I can, I don't really follow the flames anymore, they were my childhood favourite team.

Mel: Okay, that's good. My favourite team is Toronto because I live in Toronto i guess.

Taylor Hall: Yeah, I don't really have a favourite team anymore. Everyone here cheers for Detroit, so that's who I cheer for now.

I'll take Taylor Hall in Detroit just so they can win next year's draft lottery and get Shane Wright.

Seems like a good fit....7 tears for 56 million.

Not a mispelling.

Update: I would think Hall would want a team that is playoff bound, but as I look at the roster (even though the left side seems to be packed) he could fit in nicely if Detroit worked on the backend more.

I'm hoping Detroit trades for Vince Dunn before the expansion draft. We really need help at LD. I was being sarcastic about Hall. I don't expect Yzerman to go after him. I wouldn't mind Krejci on a 1 or 2 year deal. Take some pressure off Larkin. But he'll likely take a paycut to remain a Bruin.

Nice try. Adding a 4th line energy guy for basically league minimum is not a problem at all. If he’s not good enough he goes to the Ahl with almost no consequences.

Not almost no consequences. Like truly...no...consequences. You waive him. His cap hit is $0. Haas just signed in Europe. Nygard likely follows him. Chiasson is not coming back. So nothing wrong with bringing back a versatile 4th line guy for league minimum.

stay in Ontario or go to edm but please don’t sign in Calgary unless it’s for the league minimum

Hi Ek.

I am sorry it has come to me tracking you down on your own website, but you will not answer my calls.

Your cat keeps poopting on my lawn.

Please keep Mr. Freckles on your own property.

Also, you mentioned that you would return the Flames blogger that you borrowed. It has been a couple of weeks now, and we can both agree it's time.

Sincerely,

Did you watch DeBrusk in the playoffs? Soft as baby-poo.

DeBrusk for a bucket of pucks would be a great deal for Bruins.
