We still need quality depth. $2M is a good deal.

The more and more I think about it the more I want Andersen at a good price....no assets required to obtain and I think he's still a quality netminder.

Not sure Minny does that... I don't know the contract situations of any of those Wild haha but I do like those players
- MattStrat

The incentive, if you like Marino, is that he does not need protected from the expansion draft. So it allows Minny to protect that additional forward by moving Dumba. Both Fiala and Larrson Ek are RFAs with arbitration rights. EK is younger, bigger and faster and less likely to be available. Fiala I could see them possibly moving for the right return. Guerin knows these Pens players so there might be a match in there. Money should line up at Marino/Rust make 7.9M next year and assuminga 5.5 - 6M extension for Rust 10.4M going forward. Dumba makes 6M and Fiala is looking at a raise from his 3M to maybe 4.5 - 5.5 on next deal. EK looking at a bridge contract around 3M or if buying FA something like Marino currently has 4.5M for 5. So together those guys are going to be around a 10 - 12M combined salary. Deal can work for both teams if each likes the assets.

All that said, Minny needs a C most and Pens do not have that to trade so while there is a possible deal here its far from likely.

Meh if you’re gonna take a gamble on a goalie coming off injury you gotta go Bishop.

But then you're also upping the ante on the gamble with having to use assets to obtain.

You don’t need assets for him. Dallas needs to dump a goalie.

I think it would be worth talking to Seattle about offering a pick to take either. If they take zar or blueger, even tanev, we lose a good player that doesn’t really help the cap situation that much. Petts would be ideal as he can easily be replaced by Poj in house. Zucker would have to be a ufa/trade or hope the Poulin is close which I doubt for another year.
- 10inchTerror

Losing Tanev would certainly help the cap situation. He brings something unique to the Pens, but his talent itself is not unique and you can acquire it for much less money and term. You can save 2M easily by losing him in the draft.

Oh ok, well yeah, I'd rather have Bishop...I mean they're gonna want something coming to them but probably nothing to lose sleep over.

Yeah, maybe. I just cant see this ever happening. I dont think theyre going to value Marino enough to consider this even if it does mean they can protect another forward.

Plenty of options in FA to compete with Jarry (I think it is unrealistic to expect him to be traded), to speak nothing of trades likely available before the draft.

Driedger (27 already, hungry for a chance to start, perfect guy to bring in for competition with Jarry)
Ullmark (Save % pretty darn good for playing on two horrid Buffalo teams)
Raanta (32, veteran, history of solid play though rough stats for last year, could come at a good price)

Pens need a goalie with the ability to steal a series and Halak and Mrazek are the 2 UFAs that can do that when they’re on.

Also Bishop has a NMC so they may be inclined to move him to protect Khudobin as Oettinger is exempt.
