It's amazing how many teams beat themselves with the Expansion Draft, Pittsburgh among them. I'd have to look, but if we traded Murray and kept MAF protected, I wonder who Vegas would've taken. I'd guess Rust or Sheary.
Not sure if an expansion team becoming a powerhouse in its first years is a huge success or failure for the NHL... I could see it both ways. - SuperHenderson13
Every other GM would have done the exact same thing with Murray/MAF. Keep the younger cheaper tender who just won two cups. I loved MAF when he was here. I always felt he was a bit of a victim of circumstance. This team was rarely focused on defense until Sullivan showed up. In Bylsma's last year, it was 5 - 10 odd man breaks every game.
Like everybody else said, it's definitely good business to have a expansion team start strong. The NHL got that right. I'll be curious to see if the Seattle can replicate it. Let's see if the GM's around the league learned anything. |

So I’ve perfected the off-season plan.
Trade McCann to Seattle to ensure they take Zucker.
Matheson and 2022 2nd for Bishop and 2022 3rd.
Pettersson and Jarry for MAF.
Sign Tatar, Coleman, and Oleksiak. - Feds91Stammer
I am fine if we want to move on from McCann and Zucker but I don't know why we would give them away for nothing? If Zucker is exposed, Seattle will jump all over taking him, you don't need to pay them to take a top 6 caliber forward. No doubt he had a bad season, but he has a pretty good track record of solid production prior to it.
Oleksiak is going to resign in Dallas. I'd be fine with working out a deal for Bishop, but I don't know why Dallas would trade for Matheson and let Oleksiak go?
Fleury is in the middle of leading Vegas on a cup run... why would they want to trade him? If I were Vegas I would be exposing Lehner over Fleury, so that might be something they would want to do. I'm not really a fan of Lehner but I would do a deal like that still.
And your boy Tatar... if we were to move on from a couple guys like Jake & McCann I would be all about bringing him in as a guy who can add some offence up and down the lineup. But adding him to a roster that is already a bit soft is probably not the path they will take. |

Zucker will be a Kraken in my book. Perhaps the 1st captain of the franchise or get an A on his jersey. We just need to use the cap space well.

While not overly physical Tatar is definitely not soft. He’s better defensively than Zucker and McCann. He generates more 5v5 HDCF60 than any forward on the pens. |

Rask is having surgery that will keep him out until 2022. He also said he would either retire or play for the Bruins.
So I think we can cross him off the list |

He is also riding the pine as Montreal makes a run for the cup. I do think he is a bit soft and the Pens have a lot of players who are a bit soft. Would be great if we could get him very cheap as a FA but not my #1 target. |

Serious question... what do you think the problem is with Tatar being benched/ healthy scratched? From his 3 most recent coaches now? (Happened in Vegas to) I dont buy into the "well the NHL hates him and coaches are stupid so they single him out because its a conspiracy against him." Has there ever been anything brought up off ice or attitude or practice? Teammates dont like him? He clearly puts up good numbers even being one of the smaller players in the league at like 5'9' 175lbs |

Why are we bringing in Bishop and Fleury? I'd rather just bring in Fleury and keep Desmith as the backup. |

We should really be going after Fleury or Gibson if we want a change in goal. Otherwise it's just bringing in a vet 1B. Rask and Halak are both out for us I would imagine with Rasks surgery. |

You dont have to protect Carter. He would likely retire. He was only traded to Pitts because he agreed to it knowing Pitts is still a good team. He has threatened retirement before. I dont think you have to waste a protection on him knowing Seattle aint touching him because he would likely retire. |
