How do you figure Fedorov was (most) underated?

He has a decent number of NHL awards, so it's not like he wasn't recognized.

Yes, he has awards (2 Selkes, 1 Hart, 1 Pearson) but I feel like he was never as appreciated as much as some other players of his era, like Forsberg, Jagr, Lindros, Kariya, Selanne, and even his teammate Yzerman.

Personally, Fedorov makes a top-20 all-time list in my book because of his all-around game, but he seems to be lumped in with the other Russians like Bure and Mogilny. Both were dynamically gifted players, but none of them could hang with Fedorov overall.

LA-Gretzky not even close to same thing as Edm-Gretzky.

What a surprise it's a tie between two ex-montreal players.

I know many will bring up Gainy and Carbonneau as perhaps the best defensive forwards all time. But to do that, while being on a top line, top PP unit and still produce the points, in my opinion, puts him on a different level than the aformentioned players. No disrepect to the former. They were very important players for their teams at that time. Bergeron is way better than them.
