Unless both go on an absolute tear next year, both will be on very reasonable bridge deals. They will have to prove they can hold up for an entire season and produce like they are expected to.

I have absolutely no issue with paying Kubalik what he is due. He is 25, producing points, and is committed to improving his overall game (defensively and playmaking). Those are the type of players you keep and cultivate. If the entire team put the same work into perfecting their craft that Kane, ADB and Kubalik are, they would improve immensely and quickly.

One thing I would like to see that I haven't seen reported on is how the defensemen can work to grow their games in the offseason. ADB has worked on things like momentum/misdirection, changing his shot/angle, and creating openings in the defense to improve his game. What are the defensemen doing (or more to the point, what can they do)?

Imo Seabrook's LTRI contract will cover dach and boqvist raises and i believe hawks are on good cap position. Chunk i know its early who do like in the draft on the 1st round if hawks are picking at 11

Please explain.

Without toews the hawks have no chance to compete for a cup. With good drafting they may become competitive in 3-4 years. What good will kane be by then? Get high picks now.

Alrighty, let's put aside the NMC's at this point for argument's sake. The current team can't compete for a cup with him either. What the team does need is some form of stability/leadership from the center position if they wish to actually develop the younger guys (IMO).

What Toews provides is a stable, consistent, complete 200' game from the center position. I believe this is why you see BUF and EDM struggling so much. Eichel and McDavid are incredible players, but they don't have a guy that can control the ice in any zone. Kopitar, Bergeron, (as much as I hate to admit it) Crosby are all guys that can do the same and you see how it evens out the rest of the team.

I don't think you can just dismiss what strong leadership and examples can do for a team's development. Now, you have to eventually supplement that with depth talent, but the Hawks have been able to supplement their roster in ways other than just drafting.

Why bother trading those contracts? TB and Toronto both showed it isn't that much of a hindrance to work around
- Elbows15

Simply looking at it from an asset point of view. If other teams need a contract like that (Toronto/TB) you can theoretically get picks/prospects back.

Hey Scott. I am the wrong guy to ask about draft prospects. I follow almost no minor league/college/etc. hockey.

If I had to handicap it, I would say that they will concentrate on a player who has the most complete game vs something specific (sniper, shut-down D, etc).

Trade Kane....WTF are you thinking? Saw a meme the other day that spoke volumes...Toews may actually have an illness of some sort but part of the issue is CLEARLY that he does NOT like Coliton...back to the meme, game had ended, and Toews has a nasty look on his face when close to Coliton...ignores him and continues to tap it out with his teammates. If anything, I would trade Toews. This past season was no worse than the one before with him in the lineup. That shows that his absence meant NOTHING to the end result. If he wants out, give it to him...was never worth 10.5 million a season to begin with. Toews may be the rah rah leader but Kane is the leader on the ice where it counts.
- Chisoxhawk

For sure Kane is the leader, when he quits on plays and pouts on the bench and half asses at the second half of the season. What a leader

It has become apparent Stan was stupid to play by the rules dumping salaries after 2010. Vegas, Tampa, Toronto, would not have done so.

Especially a guy who has scored 30 goals in a season. Its other teamism that goes on. Any player on another team is automatically better than anyone who plays for the Hawks.
- Elbows15

It's weird. Our prospects are better than other team's prospects (see Sikura, Dylan), but our NHL players are way worse.

It sucks to see the Panther lose, although maybe it give Barkov motivation to leave. It’s nice to see the Islanders win, they deserved to move past the Pens.

Very well written. Both of those players look like men against boys but unless you're playing basketball, it takes more than a couple of superstars to win. Hockey is the ultimate team sport!

That is the thing about hockey. They play when injured. And then fans say they're dogging it.
We saw that in spades with Seabrook. He kept going at it long past the time most would have went to the injured list. And fans were brutal about his decreased level of performance.
These players LOVE the game. It simply makes me MORE of a Blackhawks' fan.

What have the hawks accomplished the past three years with kane and toews? I would trade kane because the hawks are not winning anything in the coming years with kane.. trade now while you can get some value. It’s not that I dont like Kane but rather what makes the Hawks competitive twoor three years from now.

Calgary looking to reshapes their team. Kubalik and a 2nd for Hannifin?

Then replace Kubalik with NYR's Buchnevich. Send them Strome ((maybe uniting him with his brother will have positive effect), Zadorov for the toughness they desire, and another piece maybe Beaudin.

- boilermaker100

What would it cost to acquire Tkachuk?

Strome and Beaudin?
Strome and Mitchell?

Tkachuk is the type of player this team needs....

Exhale....
