makes sense to me Karine. this could change though, wouldn't be surprised to see kk replace Staal at some point if he doesn't step up his game.

This line-up is not unexpected. Most of my colleagues agreed this is what Ducharme and Bergevin would assemble. Unfortunately, a direct comparison to the opponent's combos leaves us at a significant disadvantage in every situtation.

Line 1:
Tatar-Danault-Gallagher
Hyman-Matthews-Marner
Gallagher and Hymen are comparable players with a similar style. Gallagher's stats do not match Hyman's, but Hyman plays with far superior players. Danault and Tatar are third line talents and are utterly unsuited to compare against Toronto's elite pair.

Line 2:
Toffoli-Suzuki-Armia
Foligno-Tavares-Nylander
Toffoli is our best scorer, but in an 82-game season it is likely Tavares and Nylander would outpace.

Line 3:
Perry-Staal-Anderson
Kerfoot-Nash-Mikheyev
Once Perry and Staal woudl have been a lethal top combination. Unfortunately, Perry is now suitable only for specialty teams and forth line duty and Staal's play is suitable for the Canes alumni roster games.

Line 4:
Byron-Evans-Lehkonen
Thronton-Spezza-Simmonds
The fourth line is where most teams place specialty teams players generally unsuitable for regular 5-on-5 shifts. Our trio are all acceptable fourth liners, but the opponent's fourth line appears to be loaded with acceptable 2nd PP unit and 2nd PK unit players.

Defense:
Toronto has no defensive liabilities, and have the best squad in the North. We on the other hand have Edmundson on the first pairing. He is generally viewed as too lethargic for the NHL and would not crack Toronto's lineup.

Starters:
Price was once the best goalie in the league, however, he is now statistically at the bottom. This is not a blip. He has been in steep decline for 4 years and is no longer a suitable starter. Allen may nor be spectacular but he is better than Price. Management in Toronto properly prepared for a declining starter. There is no doubt in Toronto. Anderson will correctly be their back-up.

Bergevin and Ducharme are buffoons. They should be stacking at least one line, as this scheme almost guarantees we will be stifled. I repeat, buffoons. These line-up choices may have been suitable in the clutch-and-grab steroid era, but this configuration do not bode well for the current playoffs. Buffoons.

Its too late to correct the mistakes made at the deadline, but if I would recommend Molson immediately shake things up. Changing the GM and coach now may provide immediate and long term benefits. Short term, it may spark the players, providing and edge for 2 or 3 games. This might make the series interesting. Long term, a good GM will begin a planned rebuild, providing us the opportunity to observe the reversion of this comical squad into a proud, winning team, suitable to carry the Habs banner.

Toronto should never again be the decisive favourite in a series against Montreal.

They are trying to save their jobs, which ironically, will likely get them fired.

I think we can agree that they expected him to up his game when he arrived from Buffalo though which he hasnt. I know the decision is not surprising but i would rather try to give KK a chance to up his game than give it to Staal...but yeah the coach values experience, and it is what it is...

if Staal doesn't impress in games 1 & 2 we could see kk (and Caufield) in games 3 & 4 imo.
