Thanks for the posts on the Ducks this year, Ben! I know we all appreciate them.
As for the Ducks this year, I think the major problem with overhauling the roster is nobody wants our vets. If you are a GM of a playoff-contending team, do you want to spend your valuable assets on Rickard Rackell and his 5 goals? Hell no you don't! Unfortunately, Josh Manson nixed the trade to Winnipeg, which I was told was going to bring a decent return, a prospect, and a pick. But, the no-trade clause bites Barstool Bob in the ass once again.
My main reason for a little optimism for next year is that this team will no longer be Getzlaf's team (even if he is re-signed), it's now Zegras, Comtoise, and Terry's team, along with Drysdale. The Ducks should get another very good defenseman at the draft (either Power or Clarke) and hopefully, Barstool can do some dealings at the draft, but I'm not too optimistic about that. The other reason to be optimistic about next year is fans in the stands, OR the lack thereof. I believe the lack of fans bailed out Murray and Eakins this season. The Samueli's lost sooo much money that it made little sense to make a management move. If the Ponda is half empty next year and the fans are booing the team off the ice, I believe it will force the Samueli's to change the direction of the club. At least I hope that will happen |
