Dubas is doing what Mark Hunter would have done immediately if he would have been the successor of Lou. It’s no secret that you can win in the regular season with talent alone but come playoffs, no grit and you’re done.
Will Dubas even be around if there is no Stanley Cup final appearance? I say no. On the other side KA is a smart guy and he knows what it takes to win. The biggest obstacle he faces is trying to get talent without overpaying. His job is and will be many times harder than being the GM of say New York, Florida, Chicago, and most other warm climate teams where players want to go to.
The difference between Dubas and KA is one is handicapped and the other is not. Will they both be criticized for everything they do? Most certainly because both cities are crazy about their teams.
