Eichel cannot currently pass a physical.
Eichel is dead set on a surgery both his doctors, team doctors and NHL doctors do not agree with.
That surgery could leave Eichel as a shell of himself.
Seems like a giant issue. - ImThatGuy
It's a complicated situation, and it's spilling out publicly because of how complicated it is. I think after initial reactions have gone by, I can see Jack's POV "It's been 6 weeks and nothing's happened, I want to get on the ice asap, even though I agreed to 12 weeks of R&R (in week 9)" and the team's POV "You want an experimental surgery and we have no evidence that it will be successful in the long term for our 10M, franchise asset. You agreed to 12 weeks, we're waiting 12 weeks and re-evaluating."
The next step is deciding on a surgery path and establishing a date for that, to have it at least set, before those 12 weeks are up, so time isn't wasted. That is potentially a source of frustration.
Not to mention that abdomen thing. |

Given historical precedents, I am expecting:
Eichel for Zibanejad and a 1st
Reinhart for a 1st and Kempe
Risto for a 2nd
Please, please, please, don't let it be so homie. Call in all the clown favors you can. - RhinoFan
This isn't happening, and I don't know Jack sh!t.
Everyone around the league knows it's a top prospect, roster player, a first and (maybe) a cap dump. |

In all honesty I think Hall and Montador saved jacks value and teams will wash this season - gerbe75pts
This is a GREAT post.
Only caveat is that they will not wash the injury. He needs to prove he can play at the same level.
It the primary reason I'm not bought in on a trade this offseason. |

Hopefully our return for eichel (similar to pierre) is top notch.
Great if eichel plays like la la in LA.
Just hope we get the oh la la pierre type talent back.
3ER is correct (as Always).
This does mirror the la la trade from their perspective - Boss34
Serious question, did you like Tim Murray. Or more accurately, do you think he was/is a good GM still in hindsight.
The guy does make some good calls, but still pines that a guy who broke the franchise into still the non-repair we are witnessing was good at his job, and all subsequent GMs are bad is a farce and should be called as much. Call it like it is, Murray was bad, Botterill was bad, we haven't had good coaches either. |

I'm really liked gmtm, and then didnt like him like most Sabres fans.
Looking back, gmtm had an eye for NHL talent.
Ror
Lehner
Ek9
Olofsson
Bryson
Borgen
Couple other picks ( jack and sam)
Lesser players still playing in the nhl
Grant
D-lo
The talent is everywhere, except .......buffalo
Too bad tmgm didnt take off ice issues and personalities into making moves. |

Reinhart to the Flames for Jakob Pelletier and Andrew Mangiapane (and maybe a pick?)
"Pelletier is a highly skilled offensive player, with good vision, a high-end shot and creativity with the puck on his stick"
"He is heavy on the forecheck and finishes his checks. He forechecks and backchecks with zest"

These were guys everyone knew where talented. Borgen, Bryson, and Olo were the only hits in his 3 year tenure, and the jury is still out on them. We've gone back and fourth on Olo, and I do like him. Just don't want to overpay when there are other holes needed to cover. If he comes relatively cheap, line up on the half wall and bomb away. No issue from me. We'll see how Botterill did drafting, a lot of his guys are showing great promise as well. We'll see what happens. |

I have a Tim Murray no (frank)s given shirt that I wear on occasion. The man resonated with me. The man was an Anti-Jason and a bad GM, but he was a blast. |

Didn't bother to look it up, took Boss' word. No harm no foul imo. He's fun to watch, but if he's playing more than 3D minutes, you are probably in trouble currently. Obviously could turn into more, just my thought. |

I agree, he was fun, went for it, can't blame him for that. Maybe he's not a bad GM, just missed his shot, but at the end of the day doesn't that make you a bad GM. |

A GM needs to be good at a lot of things. Asset management, short and long term vision, trades, signings, drafting, ensuring all his departments are communicating and on the same page, communication and understanding with all facets of the organization.. We can safely say that he wasn't good at most of that.

A young franchise player dealing with this scenario is exceptionally rare in the salary cap era. These media guys have no basis other than what looks on the surface to be an untenable tire fire. It doesn't necessarily need to be, and until Jack demands a trade, it's not. |
