That's a 3 for 1. Everyone knows 3 is more than 1. Pass.

Maybe mogilny to Vancouver for :

Peca
Wilson
(1st) round pick (Jay McKee)

The pierre trade, we were receiving the best player in the trade. Probably similar ages sneaky/ eichel..... at the time of trades out of buffalo?

- Boss34

Figured you would have a good recollection of it. I was too young to delve in the details. I did find an old article from Bob DiCesare on it. As I read it, it did remind me a little bit of Eichel. Except Eichel would be the Patty Lala side of the trade. Pat told Islanders he would never play with them again over a contract dispute. He was holding out. Trade happened on 10/25/91. Such a great day of the year.

All those players you listed are on our roster. They're NHL players.

Byfield, Turcotte are unknowns. Quick is a cap dump. We're actually helping them. The Kings are getting the best player in the deal.

- Powerslave

right as well, it'd be more like cozens/quinn or mitts/quinn which then probably makes it even more appealing

Okay Okay

Cozens, Mitts, Asplund, Ullmark, 2021 1st, 2022 1st
for
Mackinnon and 3rd/4th Line player

You doing that?

- ImThatGuy

Possibly.

Difference is those first are probably lotto tickets even with MacKinnon because we’re so poorly ran.

LA is different

I don't see why we have to be bad next year.

1) We played 500ish down the stretch with minor league goalies and better than 500 with Ullmark in net.
2) We get out of the hellish covid division we are in and get to play more teams that are like us (young)
3) The kids will be that much older and experienced (Cozens clearly ran out of gas at the end).

Cause it's a forgone conclusion, well to most on this board.

also how does LA value underlying numbers? If you could identify them as a team that looks at olofsson and goes OOOH SHINY GOALS then you could strike it rich by including him as well

NO you are taking LAs 3 best prospects and lottery picks.

That is no different than the Sabres.

ou can tjust say well its not the same

Byfield and Turcotte are unknowns, but we will accept nothing less than franchise potential.

It doesnt work both ways.

I think the problem with that kind of trade is that we got back 3 lottery tickets in return. I remember the trade was panned when it was made. Lottery tickets are tough.

(still amazing that we turned Wilson into Warrener and a pick)

- Slump Buster

Absolutely agree, I remember not being to impressed with the return immediately.

Maybe add that hughes. Laferierre, byfield:
Good young nhl player (peca)
Tall slow defenseman a scout was high on (wilson)
1st round pick (mckee).

*Went to the Sabres/ Vancouver game soon after in Vancouver. My cousin says to jay mckee as he's walking bye into the arena " mike wilson sucks". McKee responds "I dont think he's gonna be in the lineup tonight " with a huge smile on his face.

Peca barely played in the nhl if I remember correctly?

Wilson for warrener for Drury is the best Darcy in action.

Honestly Anaheim makes the most sense for this if we are packaging Eichel and Olofsson.

They have the same size analytics department as us and have Eichel interest

Their top 5 pick this year + Drysdale or Zegras + another solid piece for 9 and 68

LA is in line for the lottery and is declining and should move Kopitar for a crap ton of assets.

You can temper your expectations.

Me? If the convo with LA doesn't end w Byfield ++ coming back, I'm hanging up and moving on to another team.

Eichel is the best player in this deal. They're going to pay for him.

👍I agree with the islanders perspective was similar to the Sabres currently. La la best player and bad attitude towards the current team.

I was actually (kind of) young so the "throw ins" may or may not have been cap dumps.

Benoit hogue, randy hillard?

Good ole days, Bill's and Sabres were exciting at the same time.

And people might want to come to grips that Eichel's injury is a big thing for a athlete in a contact sport. And God forbid but if things don't go right there are possibilities he will never be the same player or have the career he has worked hard for his whole life.

Which is why if I am LA, I am staying the course and not trading for Eichel.

I feel like if roles were reversed Sabres fans would feel differently.

We all like Eichel, I just don't see a way the Sabres come out on the winning end of a trade.

Absolutely power, I've agreed with all along, I'm not tempering expectations at all.

Jack was arguably (around here) in the same breath as McDavid 18 months ago. Vegas had solid odds on eichel winning the mvp as well.

The Sabres are absolutely going to trade eichel and get a sh!t load in return.

Its starts with:
Byfield, laferierre/ kappo, jack hughes, petterson, dach.
And finishes with
Another 100-200 type game nhl player ( possibly from eden) or top prospect
2021 1st (top 10)
2022 1st or 2nd
Camp dump.

Hopefully more

people forget because patty went off in his first full season here with 148 points

turgeon put up 132 points for the islanders that year tied for 5th in scoring

I think at this point Byfield has to be considered as can't-miss as they come.
The other problem with getting back quantity instead of quality is that we actually already have a good amount of young forwards right now, and we still have Paterka and Quinn on the way. We absolutely need quality at this point.

It really depends on which way LA wants to go. They might try to open their window by improving their roster while guys like Kopitar are still good. If not... they'd be so much better moving the vets and really setting themselves up for the next decade.

IMO you need whatever teams best prospect. Period. If they aren’t willing, too bad so sad.

They need, whether it’s a high end prospect or young roster player, someone who’s potentially a high end scorer.

The secondary pieces can be guys like Turcotte and a 1st.

- sbroads24

i don't think a byfield, zegras or lafreniere will be available but god knows i'd love a return that started with one of those types...just don't think it's in the cards

But if you’re trying to take advantage of the last 1-3 years of Kopitar, Doughty, Brown, then pushing in the chips for Eichel makes total sense.

They’d immediately be a top 2-3 Western team

When Eichel is traded everyone here is going to lose their minds.

If we get Byfield I’ll eat rocks
