It’s part of our draft and develop strategy. We have guys on our roster that are 28 and still developing!

Nice to have Pionk back in the lineup, ...........you have to admit that the gamble mgmt took as a trade for Trouba has worked well even though he was a bit of an unknown. Now what does he sign for? He is the Jets best D.

Stanley, my man. Unleash the beast in the playoffs and let him hammer those Oiler forwards. There is no way I am letting him go to the Kracken because if he is available, he is gonzo. There is no where else you pick up a 22 y/o defensive monster just starting to find his game.

I luv him, he gets his shots through to the net, has a nose for the ozone, makes good passess in our zone. Ya, there is work to be done but if they let him go to the Kracken over Demelo, I am cancelling my subscription.

It's been awhile since I've been able to say that our best players were our best players last night.

If Eichel is available this offseason, they should be “all-in” on him.

Him and Scheifele as 1-2 down the middle would be deadly. They should also go after Dougie Hamilton.

The Jets should stay away from the me first, whiner Eichel. The only thing he would bring is to get Maurice fired, which would be good. Also he wouldn't resign in Winnipeg as his ego thinks he's a NYR, La Kings type of guy.

Eichel....Not !

Don't want him. Can't afford him under our cap. Jets have depth now a center. An American who will not want to be here. Such a terrible idea on so many levels.

Stanley is an absolute beast. If he continues to get the boot from the lineup maybe my Devs can take a stab at him (assuming you value a guy like Benn more than him, who was acquired for a 6th). I don't know what is left for this kid to prove. He's a stud, simple as that.

And Stastny, congrats. Sure isn't playing like a 35 year old. He an absolute badger in both ends of the ice.

Most teams would love to have Stanley in their lineup. The Jets have a coach that obviously doesn't know how to coach young players as he would rather play old retreads ahead of any of the Jets draft and develop players. Watch them protect DeMelo over Stanley.

Have your looked at our roster lately? It’s one of the most heavy American rosters in the league.

Just so you are aware all of the following are American:
Kyle Connor
Blake Wheeler
Andrew Copp
Neal Pionk
Paul Stastny (Born in Quebec, Raised in St. Louis)
Mason Appleton
Derek Forbort
Trevor Lewis
Nate Thompson
Jansen Harkins
Tucker Poolman
Dominic Toninato
Connor Hellebyuck

Ps. I could have added Adam Lowry. He was born in St. Louis but raised in Calgary.

Reality is that there are about 600-650 jobs for players in the NHL.....at a minimum salary of $700,000 (?) ......any player who is not grateful for having this opportunity is not someone I would want on my team.

Speaking of your center depth...
How is Scheifele perceived in the organization? Is there any chance he could be moved for the right package? The Rangers have an excess of everything but centers and it really looks like they are poised to do something pretty big this summer. I pray they avoid the Eichel trap. He is the last player I want these strong assets we've accumulated moved for. I think Scheifele is exactly who we need.

Stanley sure seems to show flashes of potential offense. Hopefully with a little puck luck moving forward, he can start to register some points. I thought he looked quite good (against a depleted Canucks team)

I don't think there is any chance of the Jets moving Sheifele. Rumors from a few corners tell stories of him expressing dissatisfaction with his current contract (i would too if i felt i was underpaid by 40%) and one other juicy rumour. Most accounts of him are about his love of hockey, exceptional discipline and attention to training and the points he has put up the last 4 years. He is an alternate captain and leader. A trade with the Rangers would have to include a Breadman/Fox/Lafrenier caliber player but there really is no known appetite to move him out.

True - lots of Americans (most in the league?) It is worth adding that lots of the Americans on the team are from Minnesota.

I don't see Copp sticking around after becoming UFA. Recent comments from him expressing frustration about the new lockdown in MB and continued restrictions in Canada sure looked like a man interested in being more familiar and closer to home. I have a hunch he will be left exposed to Seattle (cue the allsummeroff crowd). Perhaps Seattle cuts a deal with the Jets to leave him exposed... Seattle pitches in a 2nd so we expose copp instead of Harkins.

Mostly from Minnesota and Michigan, not from Massachusetts like Eichel is, players from the Northeast US really prefer to play in that region, they really don't want to play in Canada especially western Canada.

That said Eichel has a contract, I'm sure he'd honor it and if a team is winning I assume most guys don't care where a team is located if it's a contender.

Probably 80% of those players don't really count as being some overpaid American hockey star coming to the Jets. Anyone who was drafted into the system doesn't count because they have to park it here for ELC +RFA terms. One yr rentals don't count because it's too short-term to matter and they are 4th line mostly anyways. Statsny wanted to come to Winnipeg and its only a 1 yr contract anyways. Several are Minnesota-born or played for UND. etc etc.

Eichel is not worth $10 MM per season on a bad contract and a bad fit for the Jets. It should not even be up for discussion.

Yeah, that's not surprising. He's a player every team wants. I was curious about what the landscape was and what the Jets needs are. And of the guys you mentioned, Panarin has a NTC and Fox and Laf are likely untouchable.
I hate the idea of losing some of our good, young talent, but we definitely need a couple changes. I'm not good at the trade game, but for Scheifele I'd move a lot. Like Kakko, Chtyil, maybe even Miller. We have 3 other elite level D prospects.
Pipe dreams are fun.

According to Mark Scheifele, Eichel is one of the best players in the NHL. Last year I remember watching an interview with Mark regarding Jack and he stated that he records Buffalo games just to watch Eichel. But what dose Mark Scheifele really know because according to the many posters on here, he apparently is not very good either.
