Agreed.
First its a lttery so you dont know where you end up.
I dont think these last few games will Change the draft chances.

Buffalo
Ducks
Canucks
Seattle
Devils
Blue Jackets
Red wings
ottawa

Lets say stays here we get 5th could move up could move down 2. so worst is 7th.....

1-Power -big D man ,good wheels
2-Beniers-all around C /Lw and smart
3-Edvinsson Long reach ,top pair
4-Hughes -smart , crafty
5-Guenther safe middle six ,elite puck skills
6- Ekland -dynamic upsaude
7- KENT JOHNSON - best offense skills in draft
8-Clarke great hockey sense puck moving rhd .

We wil get one of these..ALL GOOD plus 20th pick ...get a goalie.....

I hope we go best player available and not worry if he is NHL ready or not

Have a feeling id we are 5th or 6th and Hughes is there he will be the pick

I haven't heard of kent johnson before but really only have heard about the top D in the draft and bernier

We will get someone good just a matter of when they will be ready and type of player they go after

I would also entertain packaging a first for an impact player that can accelerate our growth process.

I'm not sure what constitutes an "impact player", but Hall/Coleman reunion would be welcomed. There are several pending UFA goalies that would help support Blackwood, and we need to target guys who are wieners defensively like Statsny or Staal, and some reliable D who have demonstrated consistency like Martinez or Goligoski. Just 2-3 veterans that know how to shut down teams opposition is what seems to be desperately needed. I would hope Fitz kicks the tires on a guy like Hoffman who can fill that 1/2 RW sniper role that is still wide open.

I would say an "impact" player is someone who could step into a top 6 F or top 4D role immediately. One we wouldn't mind playing over super young high profile prospects.

Let me tell you what is NOT an impact player: Tennyson, Carrick type of players. I would rather see youth develop and play before them.

Id give up a lot more for a guy like that. Especially since we need sandpaper grit and a guy like Greer won't really fill that void for the long term.

Tkachuk is my #1 dream option this offseason and its possible he could be available if Calgary wants to remake their core. Another team to target is Vancouver, they could be in big trouble cap-wise once these EP and Hughes extensions come in. I'd try to pry Boeser from them

Two reasons why I love Tkachuk.

1.He has tons of skill

2. Supreme agitator. He'll play rough, tough, maybe a little dirty. But if you retaliate he wont even flinch. You'll ending up getting a penalty from tryin to get Matthew goin and he'll just score a dirty goal on the PP.

I wish Wood tried to be like him.

Doubt they trade youth... Tkachuk is likely untouchable when they have other older guys with some value to move.

Vancouver does have a lot of cap space issues and it'll be interesting to see what becomes available from that roster. They desperately need to cap dump even with them losing a player to expansion draft. I see a lot of potential with them as a trade partner.

Is Loui Eriksson done? If so, maybe make him our last cap dump, could sweeten a deal with Canucks.

You got to look at this. It's a (frank)ing mess. https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canucks

It's just a list of 3rd/4th line grinders getting paid 3 mil plus for no production. It's really sad to see.

Haha I like this breakdown. I still think Carrick is a decent 6/7 guy, but would happily take a chance on a guy like Gustafsson/Barrie who have shown the ability to put up points. I have a soft spot for Martinez, as he brings so much beyond just points to a lineup. Similar role to Murray, just adds a touch more leadership and has some cup rings too boot.

As for forwards. I don't think anyone would complain if we brought back Coleman on a 1-2 year deal. Hall and Hoffman should be the primary targets. I doubt the bluejackets submit a qualifying offer on Laine, as supposedly it would require a minimum offer over 7M, so perhaps he hits UFA. I have been critical of him in the past, and I think his play without Wheeler/Scheifele has shown what he really is. That being said, he is a difference maker on the PP and would be a welcome addition in the 5-6M AAV neighborhood. Duclair is constantly undervalued and just 25 years old.... What do you guys think?
