Unreal he gets 2 games with no history of suspension. Yet the consistent repeat offender gets a fine. (frank) off

The problem isn’t Ghost getting 2 games. What he did was reckless and uncalled for.

The problem is Wilson NOT getting at least 10, or better yet 20, for his thuggery as a multi time repeat offender.

The NHL is a joke

have to be on the right team to escape the DOPS

again, Wilson intended to hurt someone. McDavid threw an intentional elbow to the head, just BS, suspend one suspend them all...

the difference between Ghost and Wilson besides what has been mentioned, CAPS are going to the playoffs

LOL
I wish it was still old time hockey. If it was, a guy like Dave Brown, Bob Probert or Nick Fotiu would have put Wilson in the hospital a long time ago.

The NHLPA could have the DOPS overhauled if they really wanted to. The NHL has no reason to oppose it in the CBA. It comes down to the players being greedy and for that reason it’s hard for me to get worked up over their constant missteps.

The inconsistency in suspensions however is extremely frustrating and that just comes down to poor structure from the top down of the DOPS.

The beginning of the incident, with Wilson’s stick under the prone and defenseless Buchnevich, Wilson pushes his head down and lifts on the stick and punches him. That is all after the whistle blows multiple times. That part should be supension-worthy.

As to the scrum that followed, it was all caused by Wilson. The part folks seem to leave out is that Strome jumps on Wilson to get him off the defenseless Buchnevich. Then Strome is thrown to the ice. While he is down prone, Wilson punches him. This is why Panarin jumps Wilson—to defend the now defenseless Strome.

The whole after-show was really bad sportsmanship by Wilson as well.

I agree with all this, but I don't see Panarin jumping Wilson with intent to fight. As far as I could see, he tries to wrap him from behind to protect Strome. Panarin doesn't make a single aggressive move, he just tries to haul Wilson away and restrain him.

Further, just because someone jumps you doesn't mean you can bash his head in.

Wilson just flat out lost it. Should have been 5+ games for the accumulation of incidents would be my call.

The Rangers showed all kinds of improvement in the second half of the season. Even though they missed the playoffs they weren’t really expected to be a playoff team by most. The roster is packed with young talent and they also have one of the league’s genuine superstars. Most would say they are definitely trending in the right direction with a bright future. Yet their ownership was not satisfied with the pace of progress and fires the President and GM.

Flyers on the other hand have been described as having the most disappointing season of any team in the league as compared with pre season expectations. Seemingly so many holes to fill it’s downright discouraging. Yet everything management wise in Philly is just hunky dory. Kind of strange

Corruption....who is the real villain? Colin Campbell and NHL or a coward like Wilson?

What is happening to the NY Rangers? Definitely related.

As someone that’s been jumped in a hockey scrum...1) I never thought once about what the guys intent was...lol....not for a second. That’s a good way to get smoked. 2)If someone engages you like that, then you probably react just like Wilson did.

As far as the punches to Buchnevich....again not much there in all honesty. That happens when a player is jabbing at your goalie...maybe not with Flyers d...but a lot of D men and forwards would again do the same thing Wilson did...I mean I watched Konecny get punched in the face the other night standing in front of the net. The one area I didn’t like what Wilson did was the hair grabbing, but again it’s not exactly pre meditated, those things happen in real time. Probably why DOPS gave no suspension. Eventually most of the newer hockey fans and a lot of casual fans will get their preference of watching hockey with no fighting, no scrums like that one the other night and most of the hitting removed. After reading the comments and watching the sports shows it appears that’s what people want in the vast majority....good news is the Flyers aren’t really, really soft...they are just ahead of their time.

Look again at the use and placement of Wilson’s stick as a lever under Buchnevich’s neck and head. Head on the ice, completely defenseless and Wilson punches him. Wilson should have let go of his stick and backed up. You look at that and say it wasn’t dangerous. It wasn’t a heat of the moment with someone trying to score a goal. The whistle blew, and the play was stopped.

Accidental or not, others get fined for hair pulling but not the teacher’s pet. Different players, different standards is a big part of the problem.

So if I’m reading the NHL discipline right Ghost should have just punched Friedman in the head then knocked his helmet off pulling his hair from behind while wrestling him from the front when while he’s was down bang his Head into the ice. That is now the preferred way to compete in the league. Oh wait don’t forget to flex in the penalty box, then your set!

I hope someone does the same thing to Ovechkin head! Give the league what it wants!!

If it was an accident then Wilson needs the same accident to his head. The on ice and off ice officials set the” you can’t cross that line “ standard for play in each league. There usually was a standard that goons would not go after the other teams super stars in a fight. If the officials don’t handle it it’s up to the players to do that!
It’s all up to the officials on and off ice to set that standard!

Well the league just set the standard, if your super star gets this head slammed into the ice by our goon it’s up to your team to handle it!

Buckle up it’s going to be a fun ride!

Fair points. Again I didn’t like that it was Panarin.... there is a code there. I’m not sticking up for Wilson, just saying these things happen quickly and sometimes it’s hard to suspend someone for that....I feel for Parros , it’s a thankless job. I think he’s good for the position because he’s been that tough guy, a hockey guy and an honest guy. I don’t like a lot of his decision. That doesn’t mean that the DOPS doesn’t get a lot of these calls right.
