I think it was plenty appropriate for the Rangers to speak out, because Parros should be fired! Is it any wonder why the league keeps getting this wrong after they elevate hockey thugs like Parros and Campbell into these key positions in the first place??
- jd250

It’s not Parros fault. This league has been neutered for years. If this happened in between the locker rooms during intermission maybe I would agree with you. But you get your panties in a bunch on a daily basis on this site. Moron.

Boycott a game...for a hockey scrum? These things have been happening in hockey literally 100 years....now because a super star jumps on the back of one of the leagues toughest players and gets ragged dolled we are supposed to question the integrity of the game by firing a guy ?
Let them settle it on the ice. The last 20 years has seen the NHL attempt to neuter this type of incidents but the natural way to settle it is up to the players. Tom Wilson is one tough dude, but as a team, you don’t let him do that to your team on the ice. You respond ....and the Rangers will.

- landros 2

This was more than a hockey scrum. First Wilson deliberately falls on Strome in the slot while his face is down and then punches him in the head. The he takes who he knows is Paranin and body slams him to the ice causing Panarin's helmet to come off, but then proceeds to slam Panarin's unprotected head into the ice again! Panarin as a result is done for the year. No, sorry, this was waaay more than a hockey scrum, this was something right out of the early 70s which I thought the league wanted to purge from the game? Well if they are serious Wilson should not be playing the remainder of this season or next season. Otherwise, like you said, the teams will have to settle it on the ice, and I am sincerely rooting for the Rangers to do so tonight, that's if of course the Caps has the guts to even dress the thug!

You can’t do what Gostisbehere did. He deserves to be suspended. Only the Flyers can make Friedman relevant.
- PLindbergh31

Right, I agree with you, but there has been a precedent set now. Apparently you can body slam a defenseless players head into the ice and only get a $5K fine. So all I am saying is you everything else should be compared to that precedent and the appropriate punishment handed out. If that precedent was wrong, the league should have the guts to fix it, otherwise we clearly do not have a level playing field.

The Flyers lost their chance to a proper rebuild they wasted the Hextall years doing the tweener thing..

Has the cap really just made hockey a game of whether the prospects work out?

I could see Wilson getting a game or two for punching a prone and defenseless Buchnevich who was face down on the ice. I have zero issue with him rag dolling Panarin. Panarin jumped on his back and paid the price. Next time, he will stay out of the way.

Yes, really good observations. I have often lamented how hard it seems for the Flyers to simply clear their zone when under pressure. The tend to do the same thing, just try to jam it up the boards or reverse the puck up the boards and teams are ready for it and easily intercept the clearing attempts. Offensively the Flyers always look to pass the puck back to the points, again along the boards, and teams are ready for that as well. Good offensive teams attack the middle of the ice with pivots and one timers, but not the Flyers.

What do you expect Panarin to do in that situation. He did the right thing. Its not the first body slam, its the second after Panarin's helmet came off that bothered me. Last night we saw Jake break his stick over Friedman's back and then Farabee stick up for himself and fight Friedman and clock him. I mean I was proud of Farabee for doing that, but I really don't want to see players like Farabee, or Panarin fighting in this league. This is why if the league is not going to be consistent, then you are asking for teams to go get AHL goons on their roster and go back to the style of play I thought the league wanted to purge?

Absolute Joke Ghost gets a hearing.

As for the Friedman hate, I have speculated an idea. And this occurred to my after Ghost gave him the cheap shot. Ghost and Friedman are both offensive minded dmen and Ghost has been in and out of the lineup for years. Me thinks Friedman expressed to coaching and/or management that he felt he was better than Ghost, rather than playing his way up through the line up. He thought he was better than he was and the team sided with Ghost and said (frank) this guy trying to steal a spot rather than work for it. Again, all speculation.

100% agree. Don't poke the bear. The Buchnevich stuff was bush league.

At least the league is coming down hard on Ghost. Overreaction to an underreaction.

Maybe he just pointed out how bad the team was playing rather than keeping it light?

I paid for Center Ice.
I did not even record the last two games.
It's less painful than even racing through a recording at multiple playback speeds.

If Panarin is going to jump into it, he has to expect something is going to happen doesn't he? Its not some light weight he is jumping on. Just so happens he flipped him instead of punching him in the face.

We'll see how long the suspension is, but the league got this one right in that Ghost should be suspended for the play at the end of the game. No place for that.

Paying the price does not involve Wilson grabbing a guy by the hair and then slamming him to the ice well after the whistle, causing an injury. If Wilson wanted retribution on Panarin, they should’ve dropped the gloves...end of story.

This is part of the event where I think some are getting it wrong. Did Panarin go on his back? Yes. But how many times in scrums does x player wrap up y player to prevent him from doing further damage to a teammate? I don’t think Panarin had intention of fighting Wilson, but he is so much smaller that he had to go on his back to wrap him up. Clearly it backfired but I don’t think Panarin had ill intentions. Doesn’t seem like that type of player IMO

intent should be part of any decision to suspend. I am ok Ghost getting a game, he has no history but what he did was reckless and not needed. On Wilson, I think all know his intent was to injure, he has a long history, he deserved 5 games, at least 2 playoff games, let it sting, let him know he hurt his team
