Quotes not working but agree JD250. And I also believe when you say consistent, we have small consistent habits that teams have clearly picked up on. Like the damn drop passes we do. Last night Hayes did a drop back to Jake mid-ice and the Pitt dmen read it instantly and stripped Jake. Teams have picked up on our poor Tendencies. Another one (this season especially) the lack of support for break out passes from d to forwards. Teams learned if you just pressure the hell out of our d in these situation it will result in a turnover 90% of the time.
- arichardson22

Yes, really good observations. I have often lamented how hard it seems for the Flyers to simply clear their zone when under pressure. The tend to do the same thing, just try to jam it up the boards or reverse the puck up the boards and teams are ready for it and easily intercept the clearing attempts. Offensively the Flyers always look to pass the puck back to the points, again along the boards, and teams are ready for that as well. Good offensive teams attack the middle of the ice with pivots and one timers, but not the Flyers.

I can't wait for the off-season. Does that make me a bad person?

1) I am far from a homer. I am plenty critical of the team (and organizational decisions I disagree with) when I need to be. I just don't dwell on the negative 24/7/365 and I try to keep it balanced. There are some who think that unless you go all negative, all the time, every day of every season, you're a "homer."

2) There's always a link to the Postgame 5 on the Flyers' official site, which goes into detail on every game. There wasn't much to add here on HB in terms of last night's game.

Bill, always appreciate your write-ups and thanks for all you do. Quick non-Flyers question...The Tom Wilson issue seems to have reached a point of shifting to bizarro-land. Most posters I have seen say the cheap shot hit to the shoulder was more of the same from him, but everything after that was just normal hockey scrum stuff and The breadman bit off more than he could chew. What i don't get is the Rangers publicly asking for Parros to be fired...not sure your thoughts on why someone in the organization is not being a cooler head here. Thanks for all you do.

@Claudefather

I disagree. His presence on D would be a huge help. Would it make us a contender probably not but I think I can safely say we would be much better defensively with Niskanen, our young Dmen would likely also be better with his guidance as a Vet. Our Goaltending wouldnt struggle as much as it has. I def think we could have been in the playoffs with Niskanen

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

I think if Niskanen played, he would have been a slight improvement. By how much, I have no idea. All I know is, Gustafsson was a defensive liability every time he dressed. Niskanen was an all situations player. Our top pair was/is hurting this season.

After watching what Wilson did to Panarin the other night, if I were the Rangers organization I would boycott the game and call on other teams to do the same until Parros is fired. Wilson need to sit for at least 1/2 season if not a full year. This guy is nothing more than a thug!

And one more thing. Since the Rangers are playing, I would call up some Dmen from the taxi squad or AHL team and send them out first shift Wilson is on the ice to jump him and beat the living hell out of him. And then give the middle finger to the league and say, Hey if you don't want to do something about this, we will!

I agree with Paul Stewart -- the problem isn't Parros. It's Colin Campbell, with whom the buck ultimately stops for everything from Rule Book changes and wording to executive power over the officiating department (Officiating director Walkom reports directly to Campbell) to executive power over DOPS (Parros also reports directly to Campbell). If officiating oversight has been subpar for years and if DOPS is weak and inconsistent and the replay system in Toronto has too many plays that fall through the cracks, at what point does it fall on the guy they all report to?

I see why the Rangers found it appropriate to make a statement ....but to ask for a guy to be fired crossed the line. I don’t like a lot of decisions but that’s not an easy job. It’s also not only one guy that looks at it. Bunch of (frank)ing babies....(frank) the Rangers #freegeorgeparros #finetomwilson.

Wilson should have been suspended but wasn't. The NHL cannot reverse the decision now unless they are willing to accept resignations from Parros and others. Thus its up to the teams to take matters into their own hands. In this case I didn't say anything about killing Wilson, just beating the hell out of him which is a long and proud hockey tradition when such an incident has occurred in the previous meeting of the two teams. Perhaps you are the moron because apparently you can't read what I posted prior!

I think it was plenty appropriate for the Rangers to speak out, because Parros should be fired! Is it any wonder why the league keeps getting this wrong after they elevate hockey thugs like Parros and Campbell into these key positions in the first place??

Leave it to a Pens fan to kick us when we’re down. The Pens are close to another tank! When is the next “ generational” talent coming out?! By then, they’ll need to save their arena and keep from moving the franchise.

You know what I meant but thanks for enlightening me on proud traditions. You basically said go out and injure a player then throw up the middle finger. Get over yourself, exclamation point lol.

Boycott a game...for a hockey scrum? These things have been happening in hockey literally 100 years....now because a super star jumps on the back of one of the leagues toughest players and gets ragged dolled we are supposed to question the integrity of the game by firing a guy ?
Let them settle it on the ice. The last 20 years has seen the NHL attempt to neuter this type of incident but the natural way to settle it is up to the players. Tom Wilson is one tough dude, but as a team, you don’t let him do that to your team on the ice. You respond ....and the Rangers will.

Wouldn't that be ironic if Ghost gets suspended but Wilson doesn't after body slamming Panarin to the ice?? At this point, if Wilson's body slam warrants only a $5K fine, then everything else should be compared to that which means nothing other than maybe a swinging a stick at someone's head is suspendable any more.

I’m just glad the Flyers have enough class to not call for a guys firing because they disagree with a suspension. Complain, disagree, but why make it personal? It’s beneath what the NHL is.

I still find it interesting how universally disliked Friedman is by the Flyers. Last night he got a broken stick cross check from Jake, a fight with Farabee and a slightly dirty finishing play by Ghost. It just seems like the whole team has it in for him. I know when he was intentionally waived away by the Flyers they mentioned his negative locker room comments. But somehow I have to think there is more to that story.

I also noticed how the NHL network color guy referred to Friedman as a “great skater just like all of the Pens D men”. I never heard anything about his exceptional skating with the Flyers. Just wondering.

You can’t do what Gostisbehere did. He deserves to be suspended. Only the Flyers can make Friedman relevant.
