He hasn't fought the Viking, you know that guy that stands up for his teammates after a cheap shot. |

He was given a pretty dogpoop situation and has made the best of it. I don't think anyone could have done much better.
It's an easy out for the Pegulas to save money, but they also love flashy names. I'm thinking 60/40 he gets the job - jcragcrumple
Sure,
but does that mean he should get the job moving forward??
Idk about that |

That's why I think the Luongo/Florida comparison is his best bet. They both played parts of 11 seasons with their teams. Neither won anything. I wouldn't retire his number but that's the case for it to be done.
Good on him if they decide to do it though. I really don't have strong feelings either way - jcragcrumple
Way late w/this, but anyway...
Luongo is the first Panthers player to have his number retired. His popularity among their fans is unrivaled. He is as admired for far more than his (HOF) performance on the ice. He loved being a Panther, and wanted to be here, as few others before ever had. Trading him to Canucks was the final straw for many who were trying to find a reason to keep supporting this team (how the hell do you trade away a goalie like that in his prime?!?!). Luongoβs beloved by most, and even with lesser numbers than he has, his number may still be up in the rafters in Sunrise.

Goes along way in the lockerroom.
No where on the ice though....
As long as tall timber "show's up" we should be all set at tough guy.
Of course I'm not discounting thatguy and his role with the franchise. |

Evolving Hockey's predicted deal for some of the players you mentioned (they don't do goaltender predictions):
Hyman - 7 years at $6.85M per (even a 1 year deal would cost $5M)
Dahlin - 6 years at $6.1M per
Reilly - 3 years at $3.65M per
Jokiharju - 2 years at $2.5M per
Savard - 1 year at $1.7M or 2 years at $2.9M per
Merrill - 1 year at $1.5M
Overall, why sign Rieder when both Asplund and Ruotsalainen are better options? |

I like reider and think he's a great 4th liner for the team.
Other than that, I'm off a bit on hyman compared to eh although i think almost 7m is way too high. Savard at less than 2m seems very low.

I have a feeling viking55 - he gone.
Although he had a great game last night. Really led the team to a victory, while being paired with a rookie.

Me too. I really like the idea of Savard paired with Dahlin. In fact he'd be my top priority followed by reilly and hyman |
