I know it's been said many times many ways, but heads have to roll after this disaster of a season. I want at least 5 new players on this roster next year and I hope a couple of the asst. coaches get the axe too!! The fans want blood and they deserve it in this case. What a disgrace!! Can't wait for the day after press conference when this dead ratter of a season finally ends and the dullard GM comes out and says he really likes this team! Thanks!

At this point I think any player whos playing hurt should sit and get ready for next season or get necessary surgery if needed. We need a bunch of guys to come back stronger, a lot of guys had disappointing seasons.

NoPa, Lindblom, Konecny, Myers and Hart need to be much better. Obviously the 1st two theres a bit of understanding given the health issues last season however that excuse will not be accepted next season if they dont perform.

Most important things the team needs to tackle is adding a #2D and a backup G. I think this is the time to move on from Elliott. I think we need to get someone who can endure being asked to take a heavier load if needed.

Im open to moving JVR\Voracek IF there is an opportunity to do so and get a player a bit younger but I dont see many options out there with the Flat Cap. CGY is a team looking to shake things up as well so maybe theres a move to be made there.

This would have been so much uglier this season if the games were open to full attendance. No doubt in my mind that jerseys would’ve ended up on the ice.

I don’t wanna hear about a flat cap. It’s time to turn the page on thinking G, Jake, Coots are a good enough core.

I’ve said numerous times I’m out if this roster isn’t significantly changed this offseason. I’ve stopped caring about winning games this season a while ago. They teach reading comprehension in schools you know?

Bill,

How can anyone honestly think that keeping the same assistant coaches in charge of the special teams can stay in place next season and expect different results? Was there any pushback given to Fletcher when he made his definitive no statement? If not, why not? With the flat cap changing personnel is almost impossible, so what is going to change next season?

Seattle Expansion draft.

Forwards: Giroux, Couturier, Hayes, Konency, Laughton, Lindblom, Patrick.

Defense: Provorov, Sanheim, Myers

Goalie: Hart

Expansion Exempt: Farabee, Frost, Allison

Re-sign: Samuel Morin

Fired: Michael Therrian and Mike Yeo

Walk: Elliott, Lyon,

It’s looking more and more like Seattle can only really get away with a player that makes major money in Jake Voracek, James van Riemsdyk and Shayne Gostisbehere.

Travis Sanheim is up for a raise this summer. It only makes sense to sign Samuel Morin to have room to bring back Sanheim comfortably. Not to mention if the Flyers are serious about making a splash.

I’d really like Justin Braun to just leave.

This team needs more than a backup G and #2 D, they need a 1 A-B goalie that can take the pressure off of Hart who is a RFA, they should not resign him to a big contract until they are sure of what he's going to be, 3 mill per for 2 year bridge is all I would give him. As for the D , they need a bonafide # 1 D as Provorov is clearly not one yet. A # 1 D makes his partners better which Provorov has not been able to do that, they have tried Ghost, Sanheim, Myers and Braun with him and he has not been able to elevate anyone of their games, Provorov is a fine #2 but he is far from a bonafide #1

The Flyers have 5D already under contract for next year. Sanheim obviously gets extended. Everyone expects them to sign a veteran D and they are going to give York every opportunity to make the team. That’s 8D without even considering someone like Zamula moving up. Now you tell me where Morin, bad knees and all, fits in? Eight years after his draft the Morin era is over. Time to move on.

They are gonna take Ghost for sure. Seems to be the common choice among mock drafts. I wouldnt be surprised if Myers is dealt either. Just have a gut feeling

I agree with most of what you say, but I don't understand why people are so in love with Morin. I know it's a nice story with him overcoming injuries, but with the young guys coming up and at least one(if not two) veteran defenders being signed there is no place for him. I just haven't seen enough from him. People get hung up on his size, but to me he isn't all that physical.

So? A lot can change with the D. Aside from Provorov no one has a large enough contract considered to be hard to move. Ghost is the #1 candidate to be taken by Seattle. Hagg and Braun make less than 2 mill. Sanheim is a RFA and Myers makes just over 2 mill.

York and Zamula will for sure get a chance to earn a spot but they are not by any means locks. You cant base your roster on the fact that a young promising prospect might make the team. We have already been burned several times by young roster players we expected to break out. There is no harm in signing Morin under 1 mill and having him as a depth D, worst case.

Fletcher has already been on record saying the D is a bad mix of players. There is plenty of options for our defense.

I disagree.

#1 A 1A-B goalie is pretty much what I described. Either way they will be considered a backup mto Hart. Like I said they are an insurance policy.

#2 Adding a top pair D solves a lot of our problems. Not everything but a lot of our issues stem from our defense. We'd get Provorov some help, we'd be better defensively, we'd be better at getting puck possession, transitioning to offense and breaking out of our zone. It would help our PK. This helps out our goalies as well as the rest of the team because the forwards can have more faith in their defensive game and take risks.

The rest of the issues need to be resolved by young players taking a step forward or replacing those guys and improving the PP

Yet another clinic on aggressive forechecking....

...all jokes aside, maybe Florida is an example of changing the mix quickly.
It's not a matter of "we need this spot filled"... it's a matter of turning over the mix...

Side note. And yeah, wrong sport. But, the majority of us are Philly fans it seems above all. Therefore...

Ok. This pains me. Howie did well in the first round.

I think a lot of us were hoping for DeVonta Smith at 6, right? Then he traded back, we rolled our eyes, and we hoped that what he accumulated in that swap would turn into a decent CB and Miami’s first next year, among accoutrements.

Well, he got who we wanted to begin with at 6. He tacked on a 1st with Miami, most likely another 1st with the Colts (‘thanks’ to Wentz), and on top of it all, it seemed to stifle the Giants. NY reached on a WR when Smith would have been there for them had the trade not been made. Cool.

Sure. All of these guys are unproven, but I gotta tip my hat at Howie tonight even though I can’t stand him as a drafter (who can?). His strengths are contract negotiations, not drafting needs.

I dunno if this pans out. I could revisit this post and hang my head. But I think Roseman did a fine job on day 1.

2 more days to go. Let’s get the best CB we can.

*Nota Bene*

Not thrilled about Parsons heading to Dallas. He’s a stud and a future captain on D. Sean Lee with even more athleticism. That being said, thanks for helping us potentially boning the Giants.

They missed on Surtain Jr., they might get Samuel Jr.

There is a reason why Smith was the 3rd receiver taken and fell to 12. There are some questions. Having said that, I am ok with Smith + 1st (which btw could be decently high).

Surtain woulda been great. I’d have been thrilled. Wasn’t there.

Asante’s kid could be a nice pick up.

As for Smith’s size, yeah, but the way the league is going it opens up for talent like that. He isn’t short! At least there is that. He’s a fantastic route runner with jets, tho.

A lot easier for Smith to put on a few pounds of muscle than it is for Waddle to put on 4” of height.
