No but I don’t think Tokarski is going to keep up his .926% Sv in the month of April either though.
It’s possible we start to see some valiant efforts get doomed by goaltending.

We're 3-4 points back of Ottawa, Jersey and Anaheim. Vancouver is like 8 games back so I wouldn't count them. They have 11 games left, 5 vs Boston and 2 each vs Pens, NYI and NYR. You win half of those, gives you let's say 12 points. If you go 500, there's a real good chance Sabres finish 3rd to 4th.
If you say we beat Boston 2/5, Pens 1/2, NYR 1/2, NYI 0/2, gives you 8 points, maybe a pair of OTLs, 10 points.. there's a chance you finish last or second last.
Just play a good game and the losses don't matter, or they do for a different reason. I think, like last year's draft for the picks 4-10, there isn't too much a difference in the top 5-6 talents. - TheSabresTaco
Agreed on the last point. There are virtually no mocks that have the same top 6. Some combo of Beniers, Power, Hughes, Edvinsson, Guenther, or Eklund. In order, I would like Beniers, Eklund, Hughes, Power, Edvinsson, Guenther and I feel pretty confident that the players through Power will be there when the Sabres pick. |

Unpopular opinion.
Watching highlights Id rather listen to just about any other announcer (minus Boston) instead of RJ.

I just want to see this one more time. Jeff hasn't bounced back like I thought. Better, still not 9M better. If anyone can get him going, it's Jackie Boy. Seattle isn't taking that contract, we need to accept that. - RhinoFan
Jeff and Jack played exceptional hockey when the system fit them. Housley didn't have the coaching acumen, nor did he have the horses to win. Donnie da coach has both. If Jeff can't get 25g with Jack next season, playing a majority of minutes on that top line, then I don't know what else to say. If you've got a bunch of kids, and Kyle (frank)ing Okposo, putting up offense in this system, there's no reason Jack, and by extension Jeff, can dominate too.

No. RJ post cancer is a tougher listen. I'll ride or die with the man, but I think his time is almost up.

Teams haven't figured him out yet apparently, it's coming though. He can't save anything just over his pad. That goal by blueger yesterday was telling. You can shoot from anywhere, just have to put it below his hands. |

I think you're right. Power mentioned a while ago, Skinner's contract can turn around quickly once paired with ECHL. He's never going to be a value at 9M, but we can at least get some production, hopefully he comes ready to work next year. |

In the first period yesterday we got lucky too with a shot that got by him and hit Miller in the crease.
I feel like Tokarski’s been having a lot of bounces go his way lately. |

Finishing strong establishes that not only do you have viable players, but you also have a viable coach. Is this not what we have wanted for *checks calendar* ten (frank)ing years? - TheSabresTaco

I think he is still very very good. The quality of his voice isn't what it was but he is still sharp. Van Miller's last year or two is still the gold standard for staying way longer than you should. He embarrassed himself every single game. |

I dont think the two kid lines and players like bryson, dahlin, joker, toki and now samuelsson, plus donnie meatballs, care about where they draft. And really that's all that matters - Michael Pachla
Not really, all the matters is getting the best player in the draft. |

Can you post where a team at the start of the season that finished 4 or 5 last mentioned it in opening season? That winning those few extra games means they are now better.
I don't buy winning a few extra games is going to make a difference in the offseason or next year.
Sorry but statistically speaking I don't buy it. Not buying if we finish 3rd or 4th last means we will be better next year instead of finishing last. |

I did a lot of reading on most of these guys, and I think gerbe is onto something when he compares Beniers to Toews. When it comes to play style. I don't think he's Captain Serious, but you'll have a guy who is impossible to play against for a long time and can put up 65-70 points a year. Eklund is a hell of a winger, I think he's like a faster Ehlers. I also don't think we give enough credit to Owen Power. Everything I see is like the defensive version of Cozens. Just, pretty great at about everything.

Building something sustainable is what matters. Rolston finished hot the first year but it wasn't sustainable. It matters more if Granato comes back because you'd have the same coach, system and players. |

That’s a big part of goaltending. Ask any goalie. This year Hart, Price, Binnington have seen good and bad puck luck. |

100%, he's getting bailed out on a lot of rebounds. Good goalies make their own luck, so won't say he isn't working to get some of those bounces, he's made some good saves...but I see holes all the time. Even his angles are way off sometimes, at the pro level, that's pretty wild. |

I thought the issue with Owen Power was his defensive issues and failure to always put in 100% effort?
It's something Gerbe would know. |

That's what I'm getting at. I think it's a reach that we end at 4th, possibly pushing us to 6th with bad luck. If we sit at 1/2/3 we'll be in position to get one of the above or Hughes. There's no prized fish in this one, and as long as you are getting top 6, ideally top 4, you are walking away with around the similar ceiling of a prospect. |

You're ignoring the factual evidence that The Buffalo Sabres under Ralph Krueger are the bizzaro version of Don Granato's Sabres.
Normally, I would agree with you. Like when the Sabres won a few games at the end of the season under Phil. They were the same team, and they whacked Detroit. Sooper Dooper. But this team over the past, what, 15 games, has been figurative night and day from the other team. The only option is to see what players can play in what situations and against what competition.
The long and short of it is, an extra win or two here or there isn't going to define the success or failure of next year. What it will do is tell you what team makeup you should be shooting for, who should be coaching, and how they should be coaching. This section of games is vitally important to the short term future. And wins will tell you if what we have here is worth keeping.
