That really worked with our generational talent Eichel. 6 years and counting and not even a sniff of the playoffs.

What do Calgary, Columbus, Philly, Montreal have to show for their playoff appearances ?

If they can convince Eichel and Reinhart to stay there are at tops 6-7 teams with brighter futures than us.

Granato is 6-8-3

If he somehow gets above fake .500, he gets the job guaranteed

Could say the same for Pittsburgh and Chicago in the early 2000’s.

Last time a team went winless in 18 straight before the Sabres did this year were the Penguins the year they got Malkin.

Anybody still laughing at the Penguins now ? Probably not

uncle terry has got to be happy...he'll have an easy out to keep economics in check if this final stretch warrants the interim tag being removed

pens for sure, chicago...maybe...don't forget, they got lucky as they moved up the maximum allowed four spots in the lottery to select kane...toews was a third-overall and duncan keith was a second rounder

Is Malkin available in this draft? From everything I'm hearing, no, it's not a year with franchise talent.

No sir.

Beniers reminds me of Hischier.

Can’t hurt to add another top 6 forward on an ELC in a cap world though

Sure, but using the Pens doesn't really work when they lucked into Crosby, or the Blackhawks who lucked into Kane. And the Pens also got extra lucky because they lost the 04 lottery, still ended up with a franchise talent in Malkin, and that allowed them to be among the handful of teams with the best odds for Crosby, had they won the lotto in 04 they wouldn't have. That's a poopload of luck. The Sabres and Pens had the same odds in 05 and one drafted 1st and the other 13th.

i'm not opposed to drafting him...wouldn't be opposed if they ended up with one of the d-men or one of the other forwards or even if they ended up 7th a guy like kent johnson...

i think what we're witnessing first hand with the likes of dahlin and fatty is that no matter where a player is drafted, proper development is of the utmost importance

As much as I’d like a top 3 pick, at this point I think we have players to be good but need to keep a coach that knows how to coach so I want Granato to win and keep the job. Everything he says, what he says, how he says it and all his actions I like. Plus, he is from the 1st family in 🇺🇸 Hockey.

I like this take. Keep the train rolling Donny... if we luck into the top 3, great. But not at the detriment of Donny.
