Thanks for the recap Theo.

That could have gone better. Hopefully the boys can rally and take the game Saturday. Either way, they take the season series but 6-2 would be nice.

Thanks Theo - Glad I missed this game.

Can we all stop the scoreboard watching and playoff talk - this team is not there yet. Playing well and learning JC's system is the important thing right now for this team. Gaining high-end prospects (especially a possible replacement to Toews) should be the goal.

Only took about a dozen tries for me but finally ended up in #2 behind ANA. Maybe Stan could tap out now and we could preserve this result.

I wonder who thinks learning JC's system is a big problem with some (maybe most) of the player's. The issue is more not wanting to play this system. The issues are more than that
Some forwards refuse to position themselves correctly on break out. Haven't they been taught their responsibility on break out as a youth before they turned pro?

How does Rocky and Stan Bowman feel about Colliton not able to get the break out executed better?

And if the coaches tell the players to stop trying the stretch pass so often, why don't they young dmen listen and obey

The team will not make playoffs if they don't fix these problems.

The problem is simple. The players aren't good enough yet it's not the system, coach, GM, and/or owner, to be a playoff team. JFC we're playing kids at NHL D positions. If the OTHER teams can't make a mess out of that they're not trying and should all be fired.

I never expected this team to make the playoffs this is the painful rebuild time and as far as that is concerned it going rather well if they make the playoffs ok great if not I hope they fall rather deep in the draft or win the lottery either way win win now over to tankathon

All year I saw the hawk / JC rookie resurgence as a bonus in the rebuild, but in the back of my mind, thinking getting a shot at a better prospect is just were my brain is wired after spend enough time watching the class.

I am fond of the stick to the plan of not sticking with a young defender, if there is proof there is a little more they need to add for their game and confidence to be in line withe rigors of an entire NHL schedule, so rookie rotation seemed to not be a hinderance to the winning of games.

I am just gonna throw this out there:
There was reason that the three Swedish vets were brought in this season.

We might have been able to find fault in their ability to dent the scoreboard, but could it have been they were a bit of glue around the rookie forwards, Euro adds and even the lazy Susan of baby defensemen?
There same goes vet forwards already around.

Could it be that what we saw in the inability to score against the Wings might have had to do with the mucky this events added to the forwards?

So, depending upon not only the UFAmarket, IF they DO bow down to the Kraken to add an extra protected slot (like Vegas used to extort the established teams), I would be surprised if it involves a TWO way trade, where the Hawks have the Kraken select a vet forward off the unprotected list of the "others" (I miss LOST, nah not really, there is an entire political party playing that one out, lol)

A young Hawk defender becomes the Seattle get, the hawks acquire another glue veteran, and the careens get a youngster ahead of any or the ones they add through their first draft picks.

Just talking aloud.

After Saturday's tilt against the Detroit, the Hawks will have 11 games remaining down the stretch. This end of season schedule is comparable to the killer March schedule. The Hawks will play 3 games against NSH (fighting for that 4th playoff spot), 6 games against TB, FLA and CAR (all vying for 1st place in the division), and finally the last 2 games against Dallas who, again, is in the running for 4th place.
So none of these opponents will be taking a night off when playing the Hawks.

IMO, the Hawks will have to over achieve and drastically cut down on physical and mental miscues if they want to play in the post season. On the other hand, if they don't make the playoffs, I consider this a successful year. Lots of youth getting experience, a good many entertaining games, and if they don't make the playoffs a higher draft pick. Definitely a win-win situation.

Now I am curious if they block my draft lists b/c they are apart of LINES.com , they bought DraftSite to add the on-line traffic that my part had from Canada...

https://www.lines.com/nhl/drafts

I am so glad one of you got the Hawks up to a lotto win and climb to slot two...everytime I tried, it stayed at the current 13 (which b/c of the Arizona forfeit) is actually slot 12.
The Tankathon prospect order is in my piano wonky, but, IF the hawks could get Sillinger's kid at slot #12, I think I would crap my pants (more than I usually do).

Let me just say I like my top 11 prospects and start to see a few more chinks in the armor of the guys in slots 12-32.
If they were to land at #13 (12) I am gonna bet the selection is centre Chaz Lucius or a spin of the wheel that Aatu Räty is gonna grow into what he project to be as a late bloomer who started like as a top 1-3 prospect. Lucius is derailing with a knee issue, but has this really hard strong quick shot. He may be worth the rehab.

So Nikita Zadorov got his locks cut less than 3 weeks ago, you think that was for a contract related/possible new team attractive-ness? Now I am gossiping.

I think the Hawks will add a cheap veteran or two rental next season to play alongside the youth and impart their experience. I hope they do it along the free agency route, rather than bribing Seattle and losing some type of asset. Not sure what veterans will be available this off season, but there should be someone who fills the bill. These guys would be flipped at next year's TDL, like Stan did last week, to garner additional pieces for the rebuild.

Well Connolly will be here next year. He was the only Hawk forward interested in playing in the defensive zone (maybe cuase he played for Trotz? One shift in the third, JC had Kurashev, Kane, Kubalik out there, Detroit had the puck for 45 seconds, the D were working their ass off, and the 3 forwards sat there puck watching, each in no position to get an outlet pass. I swear the 3 did not take one stride in the 45 seconds.

Maybe the Hawk forwards were playing a zone and staying in their assigned positions. LOL. Seriously, is this on the players, or on the coaching, or both?
