Vrana is getting a shot at being a leader. With Ice time I believe he’ll be an exciting fit in Detroit.

I think more than anything, he needs to find chemistry quickly. The Czech players really like playing together. Hronek and Zadina will really help him find his comfort zone. Larkin, since he’s a fantastic skater too, can speed to Vrana on “just go out there and do (blank)”. The great thing, and the tough thing, about hockey is that it is such a team sport. You have 30 seconds to 1 minute to get on and off and either make a good play or avoid making a bad one. Having guys who can tell you where to go or who know your game makes such a difference.

Interestingly, only three players were mentioned as “untouchable” from other GMs. Larkin, Seider, Raymond. It says a ton about what Steve sees in DL, and I think he will get Vrana on the right track

Wonder how long it'll take before Veleno gets his shot? After quarantine, maybe a few games in GR to see where he's at, then bring him up?

I’m fine with that. Even just start him out in Detroit depending on games left JV is another fantastic skater. He’s got to find his game when he’s not scoring. If he became a Tyler Johnson type it would be a huge boost (years ago, not this year). He just has to battle hard when the offense dries up

Henry, I know you are an older guy and probably not much of the gaming type, but man have things changed over the years and I think you'd be impressed with the statistical depth and accuracy that goes into every player in modern sports games. It isn't Blades of Steel anymore, there's a tremendous difference playing as Ovechkin in the game versus Helm. The ratings are meaningful, and it comes down to dozens of stats adjusted per player, from slap shot power and accuracy to balance, speed, endurance, and durability. A player in the NHL with a history of injuries is much more likely to be hurt in the game playing a season, it's really amazing how precise it all is.

I'm not saying a simulation game is going to result in fact, but it's come a long, long way over the years and it's interesting to see what the game processes and the results versus how things turn out. The fact that the game put Svech on the top line and Vrana on the 2nd with Rasmussen, and that's the reality of the lines tonight, granted Panik is on the 3rd, only a couple days after the trade tells you the AI is pretty impressive.

Regardless, i'm looking forward to the game tonight, and seeing what these new guys bring to the table. LGW!

It’s almost creepy, they way they’ve mimicked mannerisms and skate strides. The amount of individual engines the dedicate to a single player is mind blowing. I play as a distraction from some of the pain I deal with. My mother in law was over and she watched me play for 20 minutes before she realized it was a game. She thought we were watching a broadcast. The best, though, is that one of my cats attacks the players (video game and television). He just gets in front of the screen and starts swatting at the players as they skate by.

I'm not a gamer, at all. THe last "video" game I played was on my Commodore 64; Pong. Maybe Galactica (???). But, when the kids are all in the house, they get out the Step-n-Fecthit 3 or whatever the heck the "3" thing is. It's pretty cool to watch, for a few minutes. Mario Kart is their favourite. Incredible to hear their laughter & poking fun at each other. Very joyous times. But, again, I'm not a gamer. I do know a kid from the Citadel that designed some of the algorithms for the EA Sports golf game....I was blown away to listen to him tell of it. The irony is that I'm working on designing the Army's new accessions system and am buried in TECH TALK

ANYWAY...….interested to see how Vrana does. If he can hold his own, maybe a 2yr "prove-it" for $2-2.5m? He's having a down year (who isn't, really???), but at this point, I ain't hangin' my neck out there for ANY predictions for Detroit!! The Captain will only slit my throat Heck, I'd not be surprised to hear him say that Camp will be at McMorran Place Arena in Port Huron again!!!! (I remember those days, was cool as all get-out to see that....filled in for when the Flags went away). He may well blow us all away. I've pulled some video of him, and he's got some speed. Good point brought up about the Czech players gelling so easily. Hopefully, he does. Zadina & Hronek should be happy to have him, and will definitely make him feel at home. Again, I have an open mind about him. And I do truly hope he shows well. But....the 'Hawks

Chicago seriously owns our collective butts this year. I don't see that changing tonight. Maybe a bit closer than before, but doubtful. Chicago 5-2. Vrana gets an assist on a Zadina or Larkin goal.

Been watching Lindstrom play, he's growing in capability. He may be around for a bit. Would LOVE to see Veleno get a game or 9 with us this year. Want to see what he can do. I have a feeling he's going to be a damn good player. Sieder's almost a lock for the roster next year, Lordy that guy's amazing to watch. Like a bull in a China shop - destroys everything that gets in his path. Raymond's probably another year away from North America, surgery took away this year, but that's ok. Ras has found his groove, Svech is surpassing expectations, Smith - I LOVE that guy; Gordie would be proud of him, he's a stud grinder that we need. Cholo's not shown much to be excited about, watched him cough up the puck and blow coverage too many times to be impressed. He needs to be traded in the hopes he can re-imagine his game under a different coaching system. Stetcher's been such a gem. We really need to see how Petrozulli does next year, but there's some decent G prospects in the draft this year...they'd still be 3-5 years away from making an impact.

I think the Mantha trade really opened some eye, at the national level and in the locker-room. Guys have got to be looking at themselves and asking what they can do to keep from being the next guy gone. I just wish the coach would take a gander in the looking glass and figuring out how he can get better for this team, or just say "I ain't the guy you need" and go away.

Oh man, glad Svechnikov is out tonight because it's super important to let Gagner and Biega play instead.

Went with the 7 d-man thing again and Svech was the forward cut for whatever reason.

EDIT - Now they are saying Svech has an upper body injury
