The years we get to draft 2nd overall it's a weak draft and we got screwed out of Patrick kane
This year we suck so bad and may get a decent pick but there was little to no scouting done on draft eligible players so most teams are going in blindly...

Hey Bill,
Pretty on the nose summation of the decline and fall of the Flyers season.
It will be interesting to learn how badly Covid effected some of the Flyers. I know that the Rangers had players who were cleared to play who simply were shells of themselves for a long time...Not that that is an excuse for the teams effort, just a thought.

Do you think it is time to A) shut down Couturier if he is risking a more permanent injury? He is a gamer, we all know, but if the team isn't going anywhere, why risk his future? B) Start revolving more of the younger players into top 6 roles and PP1 roles? I know Farabee and TK and Patrick have been getting time, but...It might work to also wake up some of the vets that their spots are not guaranteed.

Just my thoughts. I think that this was a season that could have gone to either a very good extreme or very bad...and we are going to end up somewhere on the bad side of the middle, which isn't great, but at least we got hockey.

Are there any issues with bringing Phantoms up right now? I thought they were on COVID lockdown?

Thanks Bill, Must be difficult to write about this team these days. I stand by my post from the other day after the Caps game. This team is gutless, with no accountability and no leadership! Been watching this team for a long time and I don’t believe I’ve ever used such strong adjectives to describe them. Unfortunately, I will watch till the end.

I agree! I believe in the Broad Street Bullies Curse! We may not win a Cup again until all surviving members are deceased.

This season really showed that this team is stuck in Limbo. Aging Vets that will be way past their primes by the time this team is “ready”. And I’m not sure they really ever get there, we have a bunch of prospects with “potential”, there’s no one on this roster that can be locked in for guaranteed production for the next few years outside of Coots.

Why would they shut Couturier down? This team isn't mathematically eliminated yet.

If 'Luck is a lady', we have been in divorce court and we are paying for her lawyers.

We have had cold bedsheets for a decade and somehow we keep having more kids!

I'm not sure how you break a streak of good chances turning into bad outcomes. The list is lengthy, starting with a blown off-sides call, when I had more hair.

I've been watching this last spate of games at high speed. I don't need to listen to analysis, I don't want to see game summaries. I'm getting down to 30-45 minutes to 'watch' one.
I can't say I don't care. I can say that ripping my eyelids off could be more fun.

I am interested in hearing more about the Covid effect. Several people around the team and I believe Laughton (maybe another player) has brought it up that they haven't been the same. I absolutely believe Hayes is suffering from something but I didn't think he was on the Covid list. Not an excuse but interesting nonetheless.

Curious to see how the league handles the canucks situation, end of the season, almost the entire team an outbreak. Do you really have them play in two weeks?

It really does suck seeing the team have such a seemingly listless attitude far too often this season, however I do wonder how COVID has impacted the players. I've seen reports that players from other leagues that had it are now using inhalers every day when they never had any breathing trouble in their lives. Hockey players are notorious for playing through all sorts of injuries and ailments; the same would most likely hold true for COVID side effects. Is it an excuse/justification for poor play? Yes, but it may be a legitimate one.

As much as losing Niskanen, Pitlick, Thompson, et.al. was, I'm not sure it is the main culprit behind the major downturn the team has experienced.

if you compare the rosters this should be a blow out win for Flyers.
It is really sad to see all that talent and skill in paper and then see such awfulness in reality.
