Good morning y'all!!!
Thanks Theo for yet another great blog to start the day.
Happy for the win, should have won in regulation.
Stan has a plan and he is definitely executing it. It was a good day for him yesterday as well as the organization.

Oh yeah First

Thanks Theo!

Should be an interesting dozen or so game sprint to the end. Agree with others assessments on Stan's handiwork yesterday.

After that and the draft it will be interesting to see where they get re-slotted by the Athletic in terms of organizational depth.

On Laine’s “Hull-esque” goal - Dach again tried to go through two defenders (a Bluejacket and the boards) with the puck instead of passing it off or dumping it. He still needs to learn that the play doesn’t work much. He also was almost the “goat”(not in the Jordan-James sense) in the OT just before making the nice pass to Hagel. Unfortunately, since his return, he has reverted to his regular season play last season, instead of building on his breakout bubble play.

But (and I can say this since the Hawks ultimately won the game) - it was a fun-to-watch play by Laine.

Bowman had a nice day - getting back players, picks and prospects who might be useful in the furure, giving up only skaters who wouldn’t have been.

Thanks Theo - good job in recapping yesterdays action. I wonder if Stan is honestly thinking Toews will be back next season, or is he planning moves with the thought that Toews will be on LTIR again next season? Maybe Draft Day will provide some answers.

Some analysis from the Athletic Staff in the NHL section...

Stan Bowman - He got a Taylor Hall package for Mattias Janmark, a nice prospect for Brett Connolly's contract, a couple more picks and a couple more quasi-prospects for various other players Chicago has no use for moving forward. He sold, in other words. More GMs could've followed his lead.

It’s really concerning that Boqvist has concussion symptoms, hopefully they are holding him out due to an abundance of caution.

I would be surprised if taking a puck to the grill could actually cause the acceleration on the head needed to cause a concussion. I can see getting hit in the mouth with a puck causing a pretty bad headache without actually being a concussion, so hopefully that’s what he’s dealing with.

Probably more from the whiplash of jerking your head back than the impact of a deflected puck.

I wonder if Stan would of been a "seller" a few years earlier if McDonough (and for that matter Q) wasn't around, and we would of seen more draft picks and younger players rather than the Brandon Mannings, Chris Kunitz's that were brought in for a few years.

Those three were never sellers. Just last year even with Colliton beginning the season we had $11M just in goalies, Carpenter and Smith instead of young guys.

Smith was traded for Anisimov, veteran for veteran and cheaper. Carpenter is a $1 mil. plug in/placeholder until someone better comes along. Lehner was either a sign as a #1 (as he is still in his 20's), or a flip. Crawford was on the last year of his deal.

There should be a lot of competition in camp next fall. Add Entwistle, Barratt, Hardman, Gaudette and Nylander et al to the forward group that started last night. If Shaw doesn't return (I hope not for the sake of his health) and with Toews situation still up in the air, that's still a lot of bodies.

I also see Stan adding a couple of veteran forwards signed to cheap one year contracts that can be flipped at next year's TDL to gain some more assets.

Too bad the Hawks are finished playing with CBJ this season. They finished the season series 7W (3 in OT or SO) and 1L.

Yes there is an explanation for all those moves but rebuilding is not it.

reichel, Borgstrom, nylander, Guadette (I actually think he gets taken by Seattle) if just a few of those guys hit were they can be true top 9 players we could be back int he playoff mix next year. Im sure the ZAD trade the value was driven down because how many teams have a extra slot for EXP draft. 3 D is pretty tight. not sure why Colton player Dehaan if he was still hurt? ZAD, Beudin, mitchel should have been in the lneup IMO. with shalnuv coming off a great KHL playoff do we bring him in? if not can we trade his rights? also if Teows does not come back next year we would have a extra spot for a Forward. it would be a waste to use it on kampf I would probably try and trade for one of the better exposed forwards Maybe use 1 of our 4ths for that. Zad might have more value after the EXP draft to a team that loses a good player.

6-2, I think. Lost 2-1 on 1/29, and lost 6-5 on 2/11.

Why are we ripping on the 20 year old Dach already? He just came back from MAJOR wrist surgery. Oh and he is 20 years old. 5pts in 9 games isn't too shabby all things considered.

AGAIN he is 20 years old. 99.9% of guys with his skill and age are either playing in the AHL or College or in Europe still. Maybe let the kid figure it out a bit.

Edit: That was not directed at you Theo!

This. Comments about him "regressing" almost made my eyes roll out of my head. He's still so young and finding his game, and looking pretty damn good while doing it. Get real people.

Welcome to the BOD where a 20 year old can be written off, by some, after a bad shift let alone a bad game. Look no further than ADB who has rebounded from an OK season where the BOD members and ledge creatures were calling for him to be traded.
