What a depressing deadline overall. Not terrible moves in a vacuum, but the team still has no clear direction in terms of competing or rebuilding. Price and Weber are already falling off of a cliff, and their future centers are still 2-3 years too young. Disaster. Honestly, I hope the new GM tears it all down in the offseason IE trade Petry, Chairot, Weber, and Price (if the latter 2 can even be moved) and try to get high end D and goalie prospects. The team wouldn't have been so bad this year if their older players didn't turn to absolute dog poop, but it is what it is, and what it is is a need for a rebuild around KK, Suzuki, and hopefully Romanov. |

There is a weird Victor Mete cult on twitter. I don't get it.
The only thing I find frustrating in all of this, is that they failed to develop another prospect properly by rushing him in the NHL.
That being said, the guy is 5'9'', and as a defenseman his job is also about being able to outmuscle players in corners and box/neutralize them of the front of the net. The guy couldn't compensate with a good stick anymore. Yeah, he's a good skater with an ok hockey IQ, but he has no shot, and doesn't bring enough offensively to justify being there. |

this team has morphed into the same thing it does every single season at the 30-40 game mark: a slow, plodding team that has a miserable time not just scoring goals, but just generating half-decent opportunities. it takes so much out of them to score 1-2 goals. so any moves made with offence in mind is fine with me. - DoubleDown
not a turrible way to look at it, I agree |

I'm surprised and would have liked Montreal in on that if Detroit would be willing to send him this way (normal divisions and all that) |

I think he did well... picked up 2 LD that can skate and a veteran C, gave up a couple late picks! How many top 4 D got moved? Savard? That's it, and even he's borderline! |

See why couldn't we have at least added a decent forward if the goal is to take a haymaker swing at the playoffs? |

Bergevin made his moves before the season even started
he made some moves here and there, but why do anything major if it won't make the Habs a contender? Keep your picks and move on
Caps are a contender. Not mtl |
