Thought you guys would have traded for D Ryan. !/2 $$$ retained is a pretty responsible RHS Centre & perfect for your 3rd line. Dont understand the Carter acquisition.

I'd rather we went all the way in and took on Hall for our 2nd and ?? whatever would have got the deal done

Well Ryan isn't as good as Carter. Half the goals over the last two seasons, including this one. It all just depends on the return.

Well Hall is a left shot LW and we still aren't sure of the return on Carter. Either way, Hall was a gamble this season. His shooting is ass

They didnt get much because Hall hasnt done much. Surprised they didnt get a little more, but I figured that was little chance he got a 1st round pick.

He is going to a team that needs him so if he can put together a good stretch, he should get paid this offseason. If he goes to Boston and does nothing... he's going to be laughed at for not taking a multi-year deal last year.

From what I've seen, and understand, Carter just wasn't getting the puck luck with his shooting and it isn't lack of skill or decreased shooting ability. If that's the case... He should rebound. And, hanging a guy who wants to shoot the puck is a positive for the Pens. It simplifies.

Kap is a better player than Hall at this point. Carter makes more sense of the two players and we couldn't have taken on both salaries. He's producing better than Hall, costs less, and can be a right handed faceoff man if needed.

Hope it’s not another Patrick Marleau case. The Pens are playing well and hope he can score a few goals and play a good two way game for us.

One last cup for Carter before retiring.

The former Sabres head coach who they recently fired may have been their worst head coach in team history.

He was THAT bad.

I really wouldn’t mind seeing Jeff carter play wing with Malkin.

Let the Blueger line eat the hard minutes.

Oh and don’t worry, at the beginning of the game they will still list the Blueger line as the 4th.

Where’s Gaudreau on your lineup? He’s been the best finding in the last few games alongside Zohorna...and he played very well with Tanev and Aston-Reese. Opens up a spot for Blueger to play with Zucker and Carter.

Nah. I’d rather play a “3rd” line of (actually fourth) of offensive minded players as long as the Blueger line matches up against the other teams top line and creates favorable matchups.

This is with everyone healthy at once. Not happening. Ever.

I don't mind Carter for depth/bottom 6.. With chance he could stick in top 6. I think he's better than any of those extra 6 you have listed there.

I don't think Kap is better than Hall... I just think Hall has an absolutely putrid shooting% this season playing for one of the worst teams in NHL history.

You would think so, if they don't wanna trade any of our current players.

I really like the Carter deal as a low cost pickup who can play up and down the lineup. He isnt going to take over games but put him with some decent players and he will add some scoring.

He will 100% retire this year. I believe that is the only reason this deal happened. One more playoff run.

Liking our deal aside, I would have much preferred the Boston deal. Hall sucks this year but he still has wheels and given easier matchups he would do really well in Pittsburgh. They are also getting Lazar with him who will help their depth. A second rounder is incredibly cheap.

I'll say this too... I still wouldn't mind if the Pens went after Deslauriers. Had another great fight last night. I also think it could be a mechanism to picking up a late round pick after the Carter trade. Jank for Deslauriers and a 6th or Jank and a 7th for a 5th.

I know he is likely a 13th forward next season at $1M but he would be a guy that could add a spark at times.

Anyone know what the conditions are? I would go right to how far we make it but I wonder if it has to do with Carter retires or not?

Brown was the old timer to get from the Kings. This is an unfortunate trade and quite honestly all we needed to do was add a bit to beat out what the Bruins sent out for Hall depending on how much Bjork was being valued. Don’t like this at all and probably is close to worst case scenario of what we could have done at the deadline. Significant assets for a mediocre player that doesn’t move the needle.

EDIt: I thought the trade was different and we gave up a 2nd. I still don’t love it since my whole thing was get a top 6 winger that moves the needle or do nothing, but this is more whatever than bad.
