I’d go with Ellis as he a right handed but what’s the price? Also, Nashville has played better of late and they’re in a playoff spot now. Maybe they don’t want to sell?

I don't want him for 6 more years, or at 36.

Marc staal or Eric gudbranson is what I want as it would be a very flyer like move or some 4th line slug like Nate Thompson

Ellis has been hurt for Nashville, and is not ready to come back yet. Even if they do make the playoffs Nashville knows they are not going to get out of their division, so they might want to trade Ellis to free future cap space and get some help down the stretch here. Charcidi thinks the price will be first round pick, Laughton, Frost and another prospect not named York [and I would add not named Foerster]. If that is all I would do it in a heartbeat!

Kimmo Timonen was 32 when he came to the Flyers. He had five good to very good seasons left in him.

I wonder what the other prospect would be. Also, Laughton is a ufa so they’d have to think they’d be able to re sign him. I’m sure fletch is working on it but dont know if he is able to get anything done.

If it were my call, I wouldn't trade Frost until I have a better handle on what the Flyers actually have in him.

Can’t imagine his value is all that high to begin with right now. All depends on the return.

Bill..question If Ellis is obtained and decides to "retire" in a few years his contract is signed well before his 35th birthday, so he would not stay on the cap/or have they mangled that in the CBA ? My hesitancy is damaged goods.. If you think D men like Morin/Haag can provide the beef in balanced pairs of D and for PK then Ellis would be an option.

I take either Ekholm or Ellis, but i’d rather have Ekholm. His contract is affordable and short, could resign for reasonable amount and term due to age. He is bigger and a lot less injury prone than Ellis. Both have good plus/minus (except Ellis this year) and points. Ellis is better offensively but we need a durable player and Ekholm is certainly that. That being said, i doubt Nashville trades either one without a huge overpay. They are back in a playoff spot and 8-2 over their last 10.

Yes, that is why I added that caveat, I really like Foerster and think he is the kind of player this forward group needs.

I agree Bill. I think it would have been really interesting to see Frost v. Patrick this year, unfortunately Frost got injured. The organization was probably hoping to see which player would take the 3C or ideally 2C spot. It is interesting that the Patrick rumors have surfaced. I think maybe Frost won the battle even without playing because he couldn’t possibly be worse than Patrick played this season. Trading or not protecting Patrick is definitely a risk though because Frost may not be physical enough to endure the NHL...that wasn’t exactly a big hit he took to end his season.

I have a Patrick jersey, so he is probably gone soon.

Seems like Braun is wearing down; not his fault mind you. To scratch Myers and only play Morin 10 minutes is odd. It is clear they view Morin as a 10-13 minute a game guy at this point. I wonder if he is even resigned. Maybe once they are officially out of the playoffs they increase his minutes.

One good thing nobody is talking about is that carter harts next contract won't be as big as it was coming into this year. We may save ourselves several million in cap space the nest few years because of hearts poor numbers this year

I know it's not much but I am grasping at straws for positives from this season so far.

I am just ready for this expansion draft to be done with so that we can build a better team

As we say each and every year... Maybe next year

Is the AHL going to prorate a refund for the games being postponed if the aren’t played?
Have the players get on a HCQ regimen and get on with life.

Fletcher better by calling Francis about the draft,

Been think about an offer,

Seattle-Vorachek(we give them lindblom + 2nd)

Then we can see what we have in some of these younger player and make adjustments based on need for a cup run.

HCQ is all that they need! Much safer than the experimental crap they're injecting people with

The old jersey curse...I have an Utley, a Halladay, a Richards, a McNabb (which I guess is cool again ). And of course I shelled big $ for my authentic Carson Wentz...I think I’m done....

I hope they resign him....Seattle can only take one guy. Maybe they grab Sam...maybe Patrick...maybe JVR or a Vorecek? If they are looking to be decent at the start.

Most fans would probably be angry about this, but unless Fletcher gets a can't pass up deal then he is best to wait for the offseason. The problem is he can't go through the offseason and not get anything to improve the team. "No good deals came about" or getting a patch job is not an option.

They really need to get past the expansion draft, but also have a firm plan in place on what they need/want and have to get rid of.

The two obvious holes they need to address is 1) Strengthen the blueline 2) 1B goaltender or a decent backup. Forwards are a bit more complicated because what they have is not right or at least not good enough, but what needs to be done has many paths.

This ED is so blown out of proportion its comical imo. They will lose a solid player. So what as it will have very little to no bearing on any future success. Could also end up being addition by subtraction.

That is why it is best to hold onto all assets (unless a good hockey deal) and try to acquire more assets by getting rid of your free agents. That being said I have little faith in that happening.

If they have to use a 4/4 protection for the expansion draft, then yes they will lose a solid player...otherwise they will be in pretty good shape.

I’ll pass on Ellis. Not because of his age but how are the flyers going to fit him cap wise?
