Karine Hains: Having a (Cau)Field Day Cole Caufield made his highly awaited professional debut last night with the Laval Rocket and he didn’t disappoint.

Caufield looked the part, but you are quite correct to say give it a few games. That release will be successful regardless of level he plays, it is just so quick.

Let us hope the Habs have more than 5-6 players wanting a win tonight, unlike last game. These on again off again players are what Bergevin needs to move on from. I do hope he goes out and gets an 'energy' type player, but who might fit that.....perhaps Gaudreau.

Good stuff, Karine!
I totally agree, we can definitely be excited, but we (the fans) need to temper our enthusiasm. Bouchard had the right idea, to say it's all well and good to have a great start, but his job is to coach the player, not be a fan. It's one game, and work still needs to be done. It's that attitude that makes me want to leave Caufield in Laval as long as possible, because it's that mentality and ethic that can make all the difference between good and elite when making the jump to the big dance.

I honestly hope Suzuki will develop into a Johnny Gaudreau type of player but time will tell. Will be an interesting few days to see what MB will do. As for Caufield he is likely going to have a look at the NHL later this month, but adding a few more pounds wouldn’t hurt

Good first test for Caufield. The kid can score, now let see how he will react when he gets in a slump. But what a release 😍
And an even better news to see that Mete sits and Leskinen gets a shot.

So, any guesses on what Bergevin is planning for the deadline? This team at the moment is alright, but no better than that. They're unlikely to go much deeper than maybe a round and Bergevin is gone if that happens.
