Yeah, not sure what that 7th pick is all about, also not sure why people post on here before they take their meds (not directed at you).

They're just Stan bashing.

Carlsson would not be on the Hawks next year either thru expansion draft, or being probably #8 on the depth chart. My guess he plays in Europe next year. He is another Carl Dahlstrom
- LAHawk

He definitely looked more like an AHL defender so far. I don't think we lost anything in the grand scheme

We can get a kicker or punter also probably just as useful as any hockey player we get in rd 7.
- rpeters01

It's a crap shoot, but the Hawks got Byfuglien in the 8th round

Comparable big size kid whom likely will become a fail just like Ejdsell

Did you actually remember how to spell Ejdsell

Through the draft and recent trades the Hawks are getting bigger. I hope some of these big guys are good at hockey!

Connolly 6'3" 195
Stillman 6'1" 196
Borgstrom 6'3" 190
Commesso 6'2" 180
Slavin 6'3" 187
Chalupa 6'1" 175
Demin 6'2" 190
Kalynuk - 6'1" 180
Krutil 6'3" 203
Phillips 6'2" 193
Crevier 6'7" 209
Dach 6'4" 197
Vlasic 6'5" 198
Teply 6'2" 163
Basse 6'5" 179
Moeberg 6'2" 187
Regula 6'4" 208
Hardman 6'3" 190
Zadorov 6'6" 235
Nylander 6'1" 192

Some of the younger players are lighter, but a couple of years in an NHL strength program will add a little muscle. (Remember JJ says they can add 30lbs in a good summer program.)

Of course size of the dog in the fight does not matter as much as ......

There is not much to like elsewhere both sides of trade.......I will hold out hope that Carlsson is serviceable in the NHL.

Do you think at the time that Bowman traded Hartman for Ejdsell, and he couldn't care less about the first (Beaudin), and the fourth (Kurashev) pick that came with him?

You never know. Zetterberg was drafted in the 7th round.
- paulr

Ya 7th rounders - total garbage. Just ask the teams who drafted Zetterburg, Hornqvist and Pavelski. They never won nothing.

Did I misspell it? I know there's a "J" in there somewhere. Borgstrom has already played in the NHL and appears to have more upside than Ejdsell. I watched some clips of Borgstrom. He doesn't look slow like Viktor.

Also, as far as Viktor goes, he ended up being the least important part of that trade in retrospect.

if you are Seattle who do you take from the hawks?
dehan 4.5
Connely 2 x 3.5
carpenter $1
Subban $850K
Stilman RFA
or who ever we do not protect of Nylander, Hagel, Kampf or Borgstrom? we can only do 3 of the 4? unless teows does not come back or waves

probably be which ever forward we expose or Subban. the others would take sweetners is my guess.

also of the 4 who gets exposed? my guess is kampf.

What's the concern with losing Carlsson? He was probably the 6th or 7th ranked prospect among the defense corps and would have been likely lost in the expansion draft. Did you expect to get Barkov back for him?

Bowman just rolling the dice again ala the Joki trade in an attempt to get a young quality forward (Borgstrom) for Carlsson and taking on Connolly's salary. Connolly could be flipped down the road or maybe he regains his game. The Stillman kid supposedly has some grit and plays a physical game which should make some on this board happy.

Of course we won't know the final outcome of this trade for a couple of years, but three assets for one is ok by me. I'm excluding Wallmark and the 7th round pick because they are inconsequential.

I actually think Stan is saying, yes I will help you out with cap space, but don't sleep on me because if i see a trade I like I am going to take it, and not wait to see if something better comes along.

I've gotten this whole thing way wrong before, but it does not look like Borgstrom is eligible for the draft.

IMHO If these are our only options The Kraken will not take Carp, Connelly, or Kampf. Unless the Hawks give the Kraken a sweetener they will not take deHaan. There will be plenty of goalies to choose from. So I would rule out Subban. Stillman is a 3rd pair dman right now, with some upside. Nylander is coming off serious surgery and there were serious questions about his play before the surgery. But he has top 6 potential. Borgstrom is a wild card. Hagel looks like the real deal and could be a very good bottom 6 and PK man, and could play top 6 in a pinch. I think we protect Hagel or Borgstrum.

As with the Vinny trade, why would anyone be upset with this trade.

All that was talked about was that Stan had cap space to take on players. Have any one complaining ever seen the guy from Finland play? I haven't. So I can't say he's going to be great, or even good. But the last few guys Hawks scouts in Europe had advised to trade for or sign turned out not terrible.

And the Ejdsell thing, really, after everything else Stan stole from them in that trade, that's the focus??? How do you know that Stan and Kelly didn't think Ejdsell was the throw in, not important part of that trade??? Because that's how it ended up.

Jeez this board is insane sometimes.

the general trade boards make it sound like FL won this trade pretty big.

I get it, no one really knows to much about this prospect and the RFA?
