Gusev signed by Panthers. Good for him, he might thrive there.

Soon to be 24 years old, big 6'3 220lb defensive D that can skate and move the puck. Won't provide much offensive but has very good underlying defensive numbers. Got squeezed out of DC. Pretty much what we wanted Mueller to be, and then some. Good move, lots of upside here. Signals more moves coming obviously

Updated return from the Hall trade: Merkley, Bahl, Mercer, and Siegenthaler

Seems he could be a Larsson type for us, a big finesse type defender who isn't going to do much with the puck besides make an immediate pass rather than carry it and has a poor shot, but given the right role and partner might be a useful shut down type. We should definitely take all the young depth on the blue line we can get because the future looks slim there.

Hischier got hit in the head with a puck which broke his sinus and gave him a concussion. Hughes has been great this year and is 19.

Not sure why you're down on our young stars but here we are. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I’m not down on them. Neither of them are currently 7mil players..at all.. and that’s the post I was replying to regarding Hughes’ upcoming deal. They were 2 of the weaker 1st overalls in their draft years. I hope they do great, but I have more reason to believe they’ll be RNH and not Zetterberg or Kane... yet we’re paying Nico to be Zetterberg and may do the same with Hughes when both haven’t shown it (potentially yet). That’s not being down on them as much as it is recognizing how we’ve handled them and what they’ve shown so far.

I have minimal doubt he’ll fit in just fine.

I believe Jack is up for an extension at some point next year, what kind of contract should he get? Something like Nico's deal? I'm very happy with his progress this year and I would make the argument that this covid season affected him the most. Between the stoppage and then having a game every other day I'm guessing he's lost most of the 15lbs of muscle he added during the offseason. But when he had the weight in the beginning of the season he was dominant. Another long offseason and he should be ready to take the next step next season.

Man i wish we could get Jack locked up onto a Nico-type deal, that would be huge. I don't think he'll do it though. I think he'd prefer a 2 or 3 year bridge deal then cash in big once that deal ends

I still question whether he’ll be a top 2nd line center, let alone a 1C. So I’m not quite ready to pay him big bucks based on potential. He needs to earn it, and frankly he hasn’t ........yet! But am still hopeful

Wtf are we doing.

No clue honestly. I liked the Palms/Zajac trade. But Gusev and Vats getting bought out then signing as UFA's is total B.S. We should have been able to fetch a pick with Gusev retained 50%. Vats is only 1M at 50% retained.

Murray is better than Savard in my opinion. So lets get an extension, or flip him for a pick in the next 24 hours please. No more waiving, no more buyouts that quickly re-sign with other clubs.

And why did we give up a 3rd for Seig? I guess faith is low in Shak/Bahl? We buying Butcher next? That trade doesn't make sense, and he won't be any better than Smith or Murray. Not a fan of our recent waives/trade over the past couple days.

I like Jacks game a progression. Night and Day from last season, and he is a +1 on a team that has not been great 5v5. He has taken some of the toughest match-ups most nights and has shown the IQ and creativity we were hoping to see next season. Another season working on strength and face-offs and he will be our top forward.
