Jackets and Lightning are close to a Savard deal. Dreger says he has a source saying the return is significant - vlongo4419
Unless it's a 1st and Johnson I don't see how they can always find ways of getting all this talent and just use LTIR and have those players play game 1 of the playoffs |

At what point are they going to get penalized for cap circumvention? If Kucherov is suddenly healthy for the playoffs but none of the regular season I have a hard time believing all of the coincidences are just that. |

Its a 3 team trade:
To Tampa: David Savard
To Columbus: Tampa 2021 1st, 2022 3rd, and Brian Lashoff
To Detroit: 2021 4th for facilitating it
So Tampa gave up a 1st, 3rd, and 4th for Savard. Fitz should be asking for a 2nd at a minimum for Kuli and Murray now... |

Yzerman is trying to get picks. It appears that around $1.5 million is the going rate for a fourth rounder (Brendan Lemieux, Patrik Nemeth) so them retaining $1.1 is actually good value for Detroit. And yes I noticed the connection. |

I believe Jack is up for an extension at some point next year, what kind of contract should he get? Something like Nico's deal? I'm very happy with his progress this year and I would make the argument that this covid season affected him the most. Between the stoppage and then having a game every other day I'm guessing he's lost most of the 15lbs of muscle he added during the offseason. But when he had the weight in the beginning of the season he was dominant. Another long offseason and he should be ready to take the next step next season. |

For the people who thought this wasn't enough for Palmieri I think you can rest assured your GM got the best deal he could get.
Savard got a 1st round pick and you can argue that because he is a dman his value should be higher than Palmieri. |

Probably means nothing but saw studenic is on the ice with the devil's this morning, or at least taxi squad
Wonder if we make any more moves today or tomorrow
Since we used 50% on both palms and zajac we can't do that with anyone else like Murray |

Teams can have 3 retained contracts, so we can still retain on 1 more
Im only expecting 1 more move though, I think we move 1 D and that's it |

Devils have placed Vatanen on waivers
Montreal put Victor Mete on waivers too, i'd definitely put a claim in for him |

Maybe no trade can be made so put on waivers see if any team picks him up and owners off the hook for remaining part of contract |

Probably weren't getting any offers for him, which isnt surprising considering how bad he's been. If he clears waivers it makes him more tradable because teams can stash him as depth for 975k on their taxi squad. |

Seems shortsighted to me. I can’t believe there wasn’t one team who would give us a pick for Sami. Feels like we’re wasting an asset |

I can believe it. Maybe Fitz didn't want to move him for a 6th or 7th? Devils clearly aren't retaining salary on him. With all the previous waivers that have happened, it wouldn't shock me if he clears with a 2M cap hit. So him clearing and being taxi squad eligible the rest of the season makes him more of a wanted asset
Now Mete being on waivers from Montreal is the real head scratcher here. Only 22 and has good underlyings, in limited minutes. Definitely worth a claim, i doubt he makes it to us |

I like Mete too. Feel like he's been buried in Montreal and not really given a fair shot. He would be a nice fill for this roster next season especially since we're looking to upgrade in skating ability at all positions. |

Soon to be 24 years old, big 6'3 220lb defensive D that can skate and move the puck. Won't provide much offensive but has very good underlying defensive numbers. Got squeezed out of DC. Pretty much what we wanted Mueller to be, and then some. Good move, lots of upside here. Signals more moves coming obviously
Updated return from the Hall trade: Merkley, Bahl, Mercer, and Siegenthaler |

Really sneaky move by Fitz here. Teams are trying to shed contracts before the deadline so they can make moves. Giving up only a 3rd for a guy who at worst is a 3rd pairing defenseman but could be more if given an expanded role is great value. |

Absolutely agree. Zero risk, possibly pretty high reward trade. Hes also good friends with Nico, they played together on the Swiss world junior team. So thats a plus lol. I give Fitz an A- for this move, nothing to dislike about it
Was browsing caps twitter of the trade, and most of their fans are not happy about it lol |

We'll see what he shows next year. I understand the thought process behind the Hischier deal, but now we'll have to apply the same thing to Hughes, effectively gambling a total of 15mil on 2 kids that have only shown half that at best. We have the space, but during both of their contracts, we'll also have UFA signings, and big deals (hopefully) for Holtz, Mercer, Smith, Blackwood. Bratt and Zacha will have to get paid too We'll likely only do the "pay them for what we HOPE they'll be" for 1st overall picks, but that doesn't mean these guys won't earn new deals.
I understand you don't want to risk a bridge deal and then having to pay Nico/Hughes big money if they impress.. or they go elsewhere, but there's also a risk in throwing 7.5mil at 21 year olds who have put up 50 points, while never being projected to be 100pt players. Hope Nico lives up to the deal. In a perfect world, he'd be like Scott Gomez or Elias joining an established team where he can grow and develop with great players and not have the weight of the team on his shoulders. Now he and 19yr old Jack Hughes have to save the franchise. It's kind of crazy, being that neither are Malkin and Crosby.. or Toews and Kane.. or OV and Backstrom.. or Matthews and Marner.. or the Sedin twins.. or Kopitar and Doughty.. the list goes on and on and on, yet here we are.
hoping for the best, but it is absolutely a hope and not a fact.
love this D trade btw. |

Hischier got hit in the head with a puck which broke his sinus and gave him a concussion. Hughes has been great this year and is 19.
Not sure why you're down on our young stars but here we are. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz |
