The kind of C that has score over 20 goals just 1 time in his career. Zajac can still contribute, but I feel very safe saying his is not a top 6 player in this league. I would be shocked if he is a top 6 guy as an isles. I think he has a role with the Isles, and will help them. Pace and pro-rate all you want, but the guy has 43 points in his last 112 games, and a Cap that really turned some potential suitors away.

Hoping for him to have success with the isles, but I think our return was great.

Yes we need some offense and Gudreau has shown that he can bring plenty. I just don't see them making any big moves until the summer. Nothing wrong with buying while his stock is so low tho! Calgary will be making big moves this offseason.

I still think Murray should be on some radars. He plays such a sound game, and started putting up good offense the past few games. If not, lets re-sign him to a short deal.

I could see the Devs being involved in a 3-way trade as a for of cap retention. Halls 8M cap hit may need a partner willing to take on another contract and if the price is right, I think we will be in the mix.

Pitts has their 5th highest paid D making 4.1M next season. They are shopping for D as well, so something has to give.

That player at 27-30 wont see the ice for 3 years. Its probably about the time this team is almost done rebuilding though!!!!
They need ready to play bodies, not 1st round bodies, just players with potential. Exactly what Shero traded for when he got Palms from Ana. Not upset aboiut them being traded, they were gone, upset that the assets are way done the road, unless they pkg for something now

Nothing wrong with getting another lottery ticket but this also opens up more options in the offseason, especially with the expansion draft coming up, and gives us more ammo to go make a trade or try to pry someone away from a team having expansion and/or cap troubles.

Zacha has been used as a center and after trading a center away I doubt he would now move to wing

I don't get the outrage. Two players with hefty salaries, a combined 15 goals on the season, just a hair over 30 points, and both of them are UFAs at the end of the season. The cap is flat AND they both had movement clauses. NJ had zero leverage. Honestly what were people expecting? It's a 1st and a 4th for a handful of games for two guys that are having crap offensive seasons. Just because we love them as players doesn't mean their value is any higher.

Not really. Zajac was good, many years ago. He's really a depth player at this point, which probably isn't worth more than the conditional 3rd/4th. He may have been worth a little more, but not much. Palmieri for a 1st isn't bad.

The Isles got good value, but it's not really all that lopsided.

Normally, yes. But with the odd season and all I'm not sure if they've made exemptions to the rule.

Not if hes playing with Binghamton. And he can play up to 6 games with the Devils this year before burning his first year of his ELC
