He wont get claimed. And im sure this purely to get him into ahl games. Though one would of thought a conditioning stint could of worked. But this move also makes me think he was only signed to a new contract for the expansion draft.

Detroit used to play him on the 4th line and the PP. Hard shot, but lacks accuracy and the time to get it off.

Yeah, this is exactly what a conditioning loan is for: to allow a player returning from injury to play some games in the AHL to get up to speed without having to pass through waivers. It's a puzzling decision.

Yeah my first thought was they wanted him to play more than the 2 or 3 games he could on conditioning stint. Then was like wait. Team has kinda gone rogue for a month. Surely he could slot in. Then I thought maybe they only signed him for the expansion draft. A little puzzling for sure.

Roster space. Who do you move down to make room for Frk on the roster if he's ready? The only two waiver exempt forwards are Vilardi and JAD, and both of those guys aren't going back to Ontario. Maatta and Roy are both due back any day, at which time they'll displace Clague and Strand. You could demote Bjornfot and run with 6 defensemen I suppose, but do you really want MacDermid to stay in the lineup?

Sure, you could send him down on a conditioning stint, but at that point you're just delaying the inevitable.
