I think we're ok with it being the Campbell Soup Tour, but the fear is Hutchinson having to start in the playoffs - PatC80
The Leafs' management team have not forgotten what their role is. If we need a goalie, they'll get one. If Andersen is done, they'll place him on LTIR when it makes the most sense to do so - and that would be when we are closest to maximizing the cap so we can benefit the most from his LTIR, and then we can use that pocket of money to get someone who can use the cap space.
So any trades that we may make leading up to or at the trade deadline would likely bring us close to the cap ceiling, which would then make transitioning someone onto LTIR more beneficial. Until then we would lose our daily accrual of cap space if we place him on LTIR too soon.
I have faith that they know what they are doing and they know how best to manage the cap.
If Freddy isn't done, he can come back and have a few games and find his game. There is time before the playoffs, and we have a 6-7 point lead.

Andersen at his peak was an above avg goalie who had long cold stretches. He was never anything special and not in 5 years did he have a run like Campbell has had. - RogerRoeper
So how are the Leafs doing a bad job of hiding his injury? |

"Freddy's numbers would be great infront of a better D". Most ludicrous argument ever. There are goalies on terrible teams with great numbers. And it completely ignored the Ducks years. - RogerRoeper
What kind of injury does he have that the Leafs are doing a bad job at hiding? |

Linus Ullmark has a winning record and .919 % on freaking Buffalo. But poor Freddy was on Toronto so that hurt him?
Garbage narrative. - RogerRoeper
Oh what kind of hurt is it?
and are the Leafs hiding it poorly? |

I have faith in Dubas/Pridham et al. I'm not too worried, they know what they need to do..
I'll be honest, I don't think there is a need to panic... Dubas seems to have a good read on things. You could see that with the Galchenyuk trade he made.
With that said, I don't feel comfortable where we'd stand in goal if Andersen is done for the year.. I wish there was some clarity regarding the Andersen "injury"

I have a weird feeling that the Leafs are going to trade for Jonathan Quick, with LA retaining salary.. The Leafs could then leave him exposed for Seattle to take..
I would rather not waste asset(s) on Quick, but it's a feeling I have |

They’ve said they expect him back. If they believe it and believe he get into some kind of playing capacity (probably as backup) they won’t go out and get anyone. If they get news that concerns them they’ll pick someone up.
I doubt we’ll get any clarity until they make a trade or he starts practicing. |

In the event he's healthy, Freddy just needs to find enough of his game to backup Campbell and be better than Hutchinson at it.
I don't have a lot of faith he can do that, and I'm not dying to give him the platform to find out if I'm right or not.
I think best case scenario is carrying 3 goalies (if Fred avoids LTIR), none of which are named Hutchinson. A Chris Driedger type would do.
If they really are shoving all the chips in on this season... I don't think the contingency plan after Campbell (who's had health issues) being Andersen + Hutchinson... Is smart. I'd want another guy between before having to turn to those two.
But like you said, I also trust the teams management to know that well before me. |

Dude hasn't even started skating yet. I think, rather, I hope that they have a plan in place if Andersen doesn't come back |

Yikes - 2 more years at 5.8M per the Kings better be willing to retain 2 M per year or more to me or I run far, far away very fast. And even then I'm only saying the Leafs pay him the 3.8 based on the assumption they can keep JC after next year (where he gets 1.65 M) for 3 M / per (ish). |

I'd guess, Quick (50% retained) and Iafallo for Hutchinson, Kerfoot, a 2nd rd pick and a B level prospect |
