Carol Schram: As the Canucks continue to add Covid cases, family impact is also a concern The Vancouver Canucks are moving into the second week of their shutdown due to Covid-19, and we're hearing more from some players' parents about the impact that the virus is having not just on the players, but also their families.

Well done Carol!

If we sign 6 Brendan Gaunce type players we should be good for the bottom 6 and a deep PO run in the next few years.

Thank you Carol

Hearing Brent Sutter talk about Brandon, and Tim's story on horvat, and all the kids on the team and speaking as if they are his own kids as well, really makes you feel for them. Seeing Bo spend his birthday, and his sons first Easter, through his wifes instagram posts must just be gut wrenching. Hopefully the players start to get better and the cases start to slow down.

Thanks Carol.

They’re almost out of bodies, should stop seeing new cases on the team any day now and we can get back to figuring out the points percentage cup.

Thanks Carol! Maybe I’m a heartless bastard but how many people does everyone know that have had to quarantine alone? l know a countless number. They were fine and the players will be just fine. They can stay connected to their families via Zoom. Great job by the Rangers organization to ensure the whole roster is vaccinated today.

I wonder if Frk would be a good pickup?

Canucks just released its first statement from team physician, confirming the variant. Bonnie Henry just wasn't aware, and I'm not surprised, there is so much poop going on within the province for her to take special note of the canucks outbreak.

I think at 725K he's damn fine pick up and a perfect fit for our bottom 6 with Vesey and Boyd. Cheaper the better for deep PO runs.

"Team Physician Jim Bovard, M.D., Infectious Disease Physician Josh Douglas, M.D.:
As of today, 25 individuals have tested (COVID-19) positive and source infection is confirmed a variant – full genome sequencing by BCCDC is required to determine which specific type. An ongoing investigation by Vancouver Coastal Health and club contact tracing staff attributes the source infection to a single individual obtained in a community setting, which has since been identified by public health as a public exposure location. "

Sounds like all it took was one individual to not follow either team/NHL or provincial guidelines and that's all I took.

Hopefully they don’t release who started this. Don’t need the morons on Twitter attacking players or their families

I agree. Cancel culture and social media mobs are the last thing the players or team needs.

I like this line from the news release:

It will be interesting to hear from the players after. It sure seems like most have very mild symptoms. With a few exceptions? Perhaps Sutter and Gaudette

Like you said above, probably best to wait and hear from the players themselves. Knowing their conditions through second or third party sources or articles (Tim horvat, gaudettes wife, or Brandon's dad) leaves a ton of room for speculation. Hawryluk went through hell and back in his first fight with covid, it will be interesting to hear how he's dealing with it this time around.

Ontario 4 Week stay at home order, big box stores curbside pickup.

Probably what we're in for down the road.

Thanks Carol.

Every year players get the flu, never does it knock out an entire team.

They travel, train and play hard. Body is going to get wore down.

A condensed schedule plus the stress of making sure to try and follow all protocols in and out of the rink.

You would hope that shining a light on this would make some kind of an impact, but I expect the "it's just a flu" morons are going to continue spreading and mutating this thing until even the vaccine doesn't protect us anymore.

Yep. On a human level I hope it doesn't seriously impact any of the player's lives going forward.
