Last year when Hayes’ contract was roasted for being one of the worst in the NHL I thought it was an overreaction now I’m not so sure.

Issues i see on pp are:

1) Entry - they mostly try to carry the puck in and they turn it over. They seem way more successful when they dump snd chase but rarely do that

2) They move the puck too slowly. When i watch other teams on the pp the setup looks the same but they move the puck a lot faster than the flyers do. Flyers seem to hold onto the puck too long and allow teams time to read tge play and get in position. They have had flashes where they moved the puck fast lately.

Actually, all morning and last night you've been posting that the Flyers top players didn't produce while the "real" top player of Boston did. Also how disciplined teams don't EVER, EVER let certain things happen. While ignoring that Boston let up multiple breakaways in the game. I pointed out to you that the PP is costing the team offensively and in last night's game. Now you're just parroting Bill with claims of I told you so.
- MJL

And one more point. THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE BRUINS! The Bruins are not even the best team in the division when completely healthy. They have one line that can hurt you, poor defenseman and a starting goalie with a history of bailing on his team. Last night was not the best Bruins lineup; they were playin without their best defenseman, still no secondary scoring and a 4th string goalie! AND THE FLYERS STILL GOT BEAT!! This is not about the Bruins, this is about how inept this Flyers team is!!

I think the Flyers are operating at 20% on the PP against the B’s this season. Which is good considering they are a top PK team.

Flyers PK has been awful all year against pretty much everyone. The B’s took advantage.

I would rather have a great PK and a good PP over a great PP and a good PK. Keeping the puck out of your net is how you win in the NHL regardless of situation. Goal differential is the biggest statistical difference from this years Flyers and lasts.

I am on record posting in February that if the Flyers keep playing like this they will not make the playoffs, and now that has come true. I am also on record posting at the start of the season that the Flyers younger players (Hextall's pride and joy) are not that good, and alas so far that has shown to be true. So, unless Fletcher has learned from his mistakes in Minnesota, No, I don't think the future is all that bright, but I am willing to give Fletcher the off season to fix this and judge him then.
- jd250

I agree. Their record did not match the level of play. But still they were in first place in the Division. We all thought they would play much better going forward.

Yes, and I posted this morning SPECIFICALLY about this game and specifically what caused that 3rd PP to go so bad for the Flyers. So what do you want from me? Geez.

Their entries are not a problem. It’s what they don’t do when they’re setup.

Agree. But how bout the goalie make a save? How many odd man rushes did the Flyers have against the 4th goalie on the Bruins depth chart last night? How many goals did they score?

It’s not a great deal. Not on what I was being hold on. Stead second line two way center with a high offensive upside. His two way game is average at best and I don’t see him surpassing his career high of 55 points in a full season. Hayes does a lot of things well but he’s not this incredible two way stud.

I don't disagree with you, and surely the Flyers PK has been awful this year regressing to what it was, and maybe worse, before AV took the helm. However the PP has killed the Flyers this year. Its not about having the best PP% in the league, its about being able to score that timely PP goal in the key moments of the game. The Bruins don't have the best PP in the league, but their veterans know how to bear down when they need to and get the job done to win the game. The Flyers on the other hand, when given an opportunity in the 3rd period do worse than not convert, they instead lose the game on a short handed goal. We have to face facts, this is what losers do, find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

They played fine but they have run out of rope. They have 5 UFA’s on the roster. I think Laughton and Raffl will have takers. Maybe they can move Elliot to someone in need of a veteran backup. Don’t want to trade Morin and I don’t know that anyone will take Gus. You might be able to move Braun if you retain salary.

Add assets to get a defenseman after the ED this offseason.

Keep Morin in the lineup and see how he progresses. Give Lyon a few games as well. Another season lost.

- mickel25

Why would we give Lyon games? Even if we don’t make the playoffs, Hart is still our goalie of the future. Play him to death.

I think they need to sign at least one of Elliott or Lyon to have a goalie to expose in the Expansion draft.

IF SELLING:

I would listen on Laughton but it would need to be for a 1st rounder or I am resigning him.

Raffl can be moved for depth. I am not sure Bruan gets moved as your exposing him in the expansion draft.

I wonder if you listen on Hagg(if healthy) if you feel like Morin can be a good 5-6 defensman moving forward. Hagg could provide depth to a playoff team.

I am not sure what you can do with Gostisbehere as he has term left on his deal.

i know it's against a lot of peoples idea but I think you need to talk to Giroux and see if there is a deal out there. He has one more year but if you retain 50% and team gets a good player for playoff run this year and cup run next. Also when his deal is up your going to need to resign Couturier.

Thos would be some things I would look at but that's just my feelings. I know not everyone agrees.

- J35Bacher

Ok, nobody wants Alex Lyon. Don’t you worry.

He has had a very bad stretch here this season, he is not making the impact he was last season, or even the first weeks of this season. To me, something is off with him.

What's the BS with Farabee being benched in game, moved to 4th line?

He's been a top 3 player on the team most of the year. He's had a drop off lately, but let him play himself out of it. Vigneault has a very selective doghouse.
