Your track record is not that great though.

In 2015 odd, you were beating the drum about Jason Akeson. Hidden gem, undervalued asset etc. Then he was waived and unclaimed.

In 2021, you asked if Ghost should be protected. Then he was waived and unclaimed.

Just kidding.

I think a lot of fans, including me were led astray by last seasons success. I saw the start of this season and knew something was wrong and kept looking for it to just come together. They had a good record, but that shot and goal differential bothered me and then the wheels just fell off in March. We need to accept that last year was the aberration, not this year. The draft picks just haven't lived up to our hopes...at least not yet. So what do they do at these crossroads? Do they blow it up? With the flat cap and expansion draft I doubt they do that, too much insecurity. No team is going to bail them out of the Giroux, Voracek, or JVR contracts. No, they simply wait it out. I think they will make a few moves...trade a pick or two and maybe one of the prospects. Then they hope...we've all been told that hope isn't a plan. I guess we get to see.

Well said but I do believe they can move Jake to Seattle. They just have to sweeten it

If they can and that would take us off the hook of both the cap hit and the ED than they just have to do it.

Ah but what does that entail. How much money? Who among prospects?

In summary, I really don't know what you are objecting to. I never said Couts is not a 1C. I don't even know what means, since he is one by definition. I said my opinion, backed by representative stats, and analyst polls, ranks him as an average quality 1c. Average quality 1Cs do not lead/take one to a cup. .

Before you jump on the last statement as you have been doing, please note a nuance. That statement is NOT saying average quality 1cs have never been part of a championship club. The emphasis is on lead, not the position.

- PT21

There are a number of poor conclusions that you've reached in your post but I'll just focus on this issue. Who decides if a player leads the team or takes the team to the cup. Is there a website where we can get the facts on that. Or is that completely subjective?

In summary, all I am saying is that you are far too one-sided with your projection of Myers. The jury is out, and there are good reasons why it is out.

- PT21

Well yea, the jury is normally still out on NHL players who have played 101 NHL games. Especially for a defenseman.

Back in 2016 Craig Button had Phil Myers rated as hockeys number 38 overall prospect. He was a fast riser, this year he's maybe not awful but certainly not great...the same can be said for Sanheim and Provorov. Why have they regressed?

There is one thing I would like to say.

MJL and I have had our differences. He can be difficult at times.

He is also one of the guys who has argued hockey every day for almost as long as the board has been around. I also strongly believe that he is a decent dude. Many times he says things that do make sense.

The Internet is full of difficult people. If someone bothers you so much, just avoid him. Its not that hard.

Setting up a harebrained scheme to embarrass/mock someone is something teenagers do at their worst.

- PT21

Coming from the most difficult poster on HB, I'm touched. Although if you're going to preach, you should follow your own advice.

I advocate for a lot of undersized possession/skill players. Matt Read, Jordan Weal , Nick Cousins, Patrik Thoresen and NAK. The OG Erik Gustafsson. TK, DeBrincat, Ehlers, Berggren and both Aho's at the draft.

And I still believe in Ghost, waivers notwithstanding.

Defense is hard. Especially when your forwards suck at helping out and your goaltenders can't be trusted to make a semi-difficult save.

Was this whole .MJL nonsense geared towards throwing me off and making me re-read your posts? Was it you, perhaps, with that hamhanded impersonations? I will take the bait this once and bow out.

Your question boils down to the following: how do we know any player was a critical bit, a complementary bit, or merely a passenger on a successful team?

Use what is left of your goddamned noggin and answer that elementary fact yourself.

ps: And oh, btw, when someone calls a poster a name like a moron etc, that could well be a corollary of the quality of the post. Find me one instance where I have insulted a poster without any reference to the post in question, such as say Letterkenney or Angus4444 do to me, or what BlackFrancis does to you, and you will have a point.

Now (frank) off.

Eliminate Patrick and Lindblom, as they have medical issues but is it just a coincidence that all of the young players with the possible exception of Farabee have taken a step back in the same season? Now we see Farabee struggling. This includes more experienced young players such as Konecny. What they all SUCK with an S? All at the same time?

It's clear that they waived Gostisbehere not because of displeasure in his play but because they had to sit Hart, Lindblom and Patrick. So they picked a player they knew would clear.

But the jury can't be out for an NHL forward who played only 52 games his first year and had 21 points?? Nope, no way, in that case you cannot be on the fence, you must declare him a top forward because after all, Hextall drafted him!

I know how things go with fans. They're biased just like you are. For example the numerous arguments on how Richards and Carter weren't lead players for the Kings Cup teams. That's how that goes. So use your noggin and understand that what you stated there is subjective and not factual.

ps: And oh, btw, when someone calls a poster a name like a moron etc, that could well be a corollary of the quality of the post. There is no by the way. You made the statement that everyone here knew was false when you made it. No single poster insults other posters more than you do. I just called you on it.
